Default WTB... is this a good price?

1997 Yellow NSX-T w/ 8900miles for $55,000. That's what they are asking, prolly thinking I can get them down lower. What would you guys pay for this car. It was hardly driven as it was their 4th car (always garaged). I am going to check it out tonight.

Default Thats...

..actually a fair price for a 97! But you should be aware that the NSX's need to be well maintained and cost a little more to maintain. T-Belts are about $1100, brakes $600, clutch $1200, etc. Also, NSX's really like to go through rear tires [~ $500 a set for rears]. BUT, with that said, the 97 year is by far the best, bigger motor 3.2 from 3.0 also power went from 270 to 290hp, fiber reinforced sleeves, 6-speed tranny, larger rotors and calipers, etc. Only thing is the T style chassis is a little less rigid than the coupe chassis, so if you plan on tracking it, it might tend to roll a little more than the coupes!

But, I say go for it, by the way, before you do though, make sure you take it somewhere that speciliazes in NSX's and have the entire car checked out mechanically, and also have the chassis and frame checked by either a body shop or alignment shop, and insist on all service records and maintenance records.

Thanks for the advice... it is really appreciated. Well, I am thinking it is a acura (so how much service can it need). Acura/Honda is a very low maintenance car, unless the nsx is different. I just figure with it only having 8900 miles it is practically new. Plus... I have always wanted a sports car like this since I was a kid and now I can afford it, as long as I decide to forgoe the new home right now. I will just continue to live with roomates in our condo.

Default Its not that...

...they need more maintenance, its just that the maintenance has to be done on time and by qualified people, with that said though, it is by far the MOST reliable supercar you'll ever find, it was actually found to be one of the best that JD Power ever tested! If you can afford, I say do it, BUT, be picky, if there is something that you dont like about the car, paint chip, door dings, interior, etc. make it a point to address these issues and be certain that its the car for you! The NSX is not your typical grocery getter, but you should have no problem commuting, that is if you can get through the crowd that gathers around it wherever you park it, or all the people trying to catch up to you on the freeway to gawk at it!
So, w/ all that said, your right, it is just another Honda!

One last thing, if you want to read up on the NSX and what the market is like and what you can anticipate in terms of ownership, here is a great article:
http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Media/ma...-june_2001.htm

Personally, the 97's get my vote, a close second would be a 98 coupe!
Good luck, keep us posted and get some pics up if you get it
