um what would i need if i want to convert my 92 prelude si to a vtec model
i want to swap in a vtec engine, i dont want to sell and buy vtec cause i already bought some mods for this car and dont really wanna sell then buy again, kinda a pain
I have a 92 with a JDM H22A TYPE-S and all it took was money.
and new CPU which came with the motor i used my SI tranny till it blew and then got a vtec tranny for it. But I think the Si tranny could take more punishment then the vtec im not sure which one i want to have. It should just drop right in and run the vtec wires and you are ready to race!!

After you get the engine you will have to run two wires, VTEC Oil Pressure and VTEC Solenoid wire. It is pretty easy to do. If I were you, I would figure out what my future plans were for the car. If you plan on staying pretty much all motor, I would get a JDM Spec motor. I just saw this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=77014 seems to be a very good deal. That is cheap for a JDM motor. If you were going to go turbo at some point, I would just try to find a good deal on a USDM motor. You only need the JDM model for the Higher compression. But at the price he is offering it really won't matter, all you have to do is change the pistons to a lower the compression for a turbo application. I hope I have helped you out.
I thought the VTEC motors used different blocks b/c they have different coolant chamber designs... is this true?
