Tubular turbo manifolds & Heat wrap tape
I bought a tubular manifold for my turbo project and people keep telling me that its going to crack. Its not on the car yet, but do you guys think that using heat wrap tape might create more reliablility?
so whats your suggestion then?
Here's a link to what the manifold looks like:

heat wrap will hurt more than help.
The moisture it traps in it will prematurely rust your piping and possibly crack it.
The reason that people are telling you its gonna crack is that manifold is a piece of ****. Poor design, thin metal, no bracing.
DO a search on here, you will find TONS about it.
Do not buy that manifold.
Get a inlinepro, or get custom from http://www.lovefab.com or http://www.full-race.com or just a log manifold from a kit will do.

not much you can do, the manifoldis crap to begin with. Many have tried to weld support braces on them but I tihnk your better off getting a new and more reliable manifold, it'll probably save you more money and the headaches in the long run
ya, those manifolds on those sites are nice, but way to expensive. I already bought that manifold a while ago, so i'm stuck with it now. Is there anything i can do to makie it stronger?

First get it thermal coated and then get it braced so there's no movement with the manifold, that should be fine

I use one of them did some extra bracing and works great, I made pretty good numbers on it with 6psi on my d16...Make sure you have a really good flex section in your dp, the less vibration the better....It will hold up fine, I have had a couple lil problems but my dad welds so we fixed it and he put some bracing on it and now it seems good, I didnt have a flex section the first time so thats one of the reasons why i believed it cracked....The main part to brace is the wastegate section, i added a bolt on brace that goes from the wastegate to the actual turbo flange, that will be one of the main stress point where they usually crack or break.....I want to get a better manifold but with wraping up college I just cant afford 800 bucks so I went with el cheapo, I dont mind it...One nice thing is if it does crack just send it back and they send ya a new one right away, no questions asked....but anyway good luck
