this is what happens when you buy obx turbo manifold (56k beware)
last weekend i spent 8 hours taking out the manifold and welding it, so it will last 2 weeks till i buy a blox manifold... and get to do this **** all over again... this car was bought with this manifold but it goes to show you...DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! it will cost you more money in the end and much more time...the obx manifold cracked in like 7 places and had 2 decent holes the cracks were everwhere started in all different places not just the welds. the manifold was braced..

how long did it last? those manifolds are seriously for show cars. you know drive up...get your blow off valve going off to show boat....then park it.

Man, that mani has some serious issues.
Are you going to spend the time welding it all back up or just buy a different one?
That sux either way...

All have their own opinions on products and how the install and use them. I rather not let this thread get out of hand.

i bet 20$ that the turbo wasn't braced. Any mani will crack over time if every thing isn't properly supported.

Its the old one
I really do think the newer one is better
I am waiting for some good feedback

Re: this is what happens when you buy obx turbo manifold (b18c1wes)
its hard for me to say anything about a product that isnt based of fact... fact is the old manifold is very much... crap... i hear if you brace it it will last well i braced it... the new stuff might be better but thats like saying hey our **** doesnt stink as much anymore... but its still ****! take the money you would spend on the obx manifold put it away and save the extra 2-300 because you will have to spend it again anyways and save yourself the hassle....

No it wasn't...all that did was relocate the stress to another area on the manifold....bracing the turbo is a completely different subject...ive explained many times.

THANK YOU.
b18c1wes:
The little ****** "braces" that come on the manifold aren't "braces" - they are bullshit.
It's a tubular thin walled manifold, THEY CAN'T SUPPORT ANYTHING EXCEPT THEIR OWN WEIGHT. You have to run bracing that supports the turbo amd the wastegate, so that both items are solidly bolted in place WITH THE MANIFOLD REMOVED.
The OBX/SSAC manifolds are the same materials and quality of every common domestic header out there... the domestic guys use stock headers to bolt turbos to, those headers being primary/sole support for the turbo, and they get away with it for a lot longer before they have problems. The reason why is that inline four cylinder engines are dynamically unbalanced, and create severe vibrations that will tear a thin walled tubie apart in short order. Vibrations not unlike what your rods experience when you detonate, right before they fold.
