What's the best shocks to buy?
Hi from the new guy. I'm new to this forum and need a little advice regarding shocks for my '91 civic si. If got a set of Ractive springs on it now and have lowered it about 1" - 1.5". The ride is ok, but, going over a high spot on the highway at high speed the car becomes a little unstable and hitting any potholes make for some great teeth bashing. The stock shocks have gotta go! Any advice you can offer would be great.

The only reason I ask about the adjustablity is becasue it is a daily driver ans we don't always have the best roads in "Cow Town". It would be nice to dial them in.
How are the blues diff from the yellows?

I beleive Tokico has the Illumina series coilover set for your car, with adjustible dampening, overall a pretty good set up all around.
if you have a set of good springs and struts, you dont need adjustibility on the ride height side of things. unless of corse your roads are shot. i have H&R springs with kyb AGX struts. the ride is great and performance to boot.

Mine are pretty easy to adjust. Just pop off the little panels and adjust away.

Tein Basics are probably the worst way to spend $750 when you can get Ground Control coilover sleeves with custom spring rates and Koni Sport dampers for $780.

Mmhh?
I would go with Tein Basic as well they have them for under $700 shipped at the Sponsors Marketplace. There is a few on here that say that the Basic is not worth it, but yunno that is just a few. And Skunk2 aint as bad as people claim they are they are just stiffer for road racing/ autocross not ment for daily driver. I would personally get them for autocross. Then again you cant go wrong with GC, Skunk2 or Tein.

.... and what are a nice set of springs, like $140-$220 ? around $500 and you got a sweet setup. hell, as long as you are there get a prothane bushing kit. another $170 tops. since this is EF forum i'm sure those stock honda rubber bushings from 88-91 are in **** shape by now. you could be all set for under $700.

On my old Civic I had Tokico blues that rode that crap and handled like crap. For $250 more I have Koni yellows on my CRX which are adjustable, rebuildable, and handle and ride better than any other shock I have ridden/driven a car with.
