ls/vtec turbo
Ive gotten several opinions about this and the basically told me to not even do the ls/vtec deal and just turbo the LS motor. Well I just wanted a second opinion from you guys... If built RIGHT, is the ls/vtec reliable? with turbo also? Is my best bet going to be to boost the hell out of the LS?
I think you can get the same about of power out of an ls turbo as an lsvtec turbo, if you take the money you would have spent on the VTEC conversion and add that to your fuel management budget as well as some head work.
that is true, an ls can make substantial amount of power. but ls/vtec turbo can be reliable if you spend all the $$$ on making it that way. this has been talking about numerous times. i'm sure you can find good information through the search option located at the top of the web page.
I would just save the money you'll be spending on the vtec head and put it toward your turbo project. Such as building the block so you can boost more. Or getting it tuned really nice. just my 02 cents
It depends on how much your getting the VTEC head for. Dont forget you will need the Intake mani, vtec soloniod, vtec ECU, added oil lines etc. Its quite a project. I saw a complete swap ready to bolt on go for $800 on ebay.
I would do the ls vtec turbo if you have the money. I have a ls turbo right now in the works of getting built. I might go vtec,if the money is right. If you can get a hold of things cheap. It might be worth it. Like i got my drag turbo kit for $1,200(everything but fmu
). So basically a new kit is like what 3,000. So i saved and used the money on other things. What im tryin to say is look for some complete cheap kits and then put the rest of the money into a vtec head if you like. YOu can have what you want

Depends how much "disposable income" you have. When I got hondata tuned they lowered the vtec engagement to about 4300 rpms. Even at 8.5:1 comp boring to 84mm makes a world of difference before boost range. When it kicks in tires just light up. With more air and fuel combined with forced induction and a redline at 8k is some fun ****! But if you had to choose try to spend the money in building the bottom end, such as resleeving, forged pistons, rods, better head studs, stock head gasket (proven). You can always slap a vtec head on after.
never turn back, i have never been let down by mine hell, i ran 12.1@117 with full interior on 13psi, with pump gas WITH THREE CYLINDERS not bad. but im goin back the same way
