Draft:ANYONE REMEMBER THIS CAR?
I just bought the car. Its a red 91 civic hatch solo2 #37. The guy who raced and built the car was Chris Ray. Im just now learning about the car ...and was told it was very well known ..especially in the Texas area. This is what i know so far..... won the SASCA Texas championship three consecutive years, , and two SCCA Divisional races. It took 2nd over all in one six race SCCA divisional series. It won 36 consecutive regional SCCA events over three years. And won its class at every Porche club event for the two years that it raced their series. It won the SCCA points championship every year it was raced except for the first year. There are a few books that the car has been featured in. ............For now this is the only pic i have but i will post up more tomorrow ...especially of the kawasaki carburators ..that totally flipped me out when i looked under the hood..[IMG][/IMG]
Can't say that I'm familiar with that car and don't know of any Chris Ray in SOLO II...There is Chris Ramey who recently began running a Z06 corvette about a year ago, don't remember what he ran before the Z06.
don't get too wrapped up in the cars history. i know someone who bought a car and expected to dominate his class due to the cars history. turned out the car was mediocre and it's previous results were attributable only to the driver driving the car very well.
that said, the cars history does prove that the setup can win. sometimes that's a nice thing to know, since you only need to worry about driving it now, not setting it up. of course, sometimes it's a pretty tremondous blow to the ego to learn that you can't drive the car as well as the previous owner did.
sounds like you got yourself a pretty screamin machine. goodluck!

Sounds like you need to poke around the SASCA website, maybe post up your question to those guys.

Some of their old results are here: http://www.conehunter.com/results.html, but I haven't found any Chris Ray yet...

Same here...looked at the year end results for last three years and no Chris Ray.
Is this civic supposed to be a Solo or club racing car?

Why not run the car this coming event? There are still plenty of slots open for non-members http://www.dlbracing.com/HouSCCA/...
Even if you don't end up running, if you can ride along on one of my runs if you wish - I promise I won't scare you too much..

In the case that you're not an SCCA member; you have three weeks to come up with $25, and there are loaner helmets. <edit:> make sure you register online early if you are a non-SCCA member.
If you're a novice, you are required to ride with someone else first anyway - you can ride with as many people as are willing.
