I'd start with a search, as this has been gone over before.

If you have a completely stock car you would be in D Stock. You can do DOT race tires, cat back exhaust, disconnect front sway bar, brake pads, K&N filter element, spark plugs, wires, and racing harness.
The best thing to do is just get seat time. Find some autocross schools near you ttp://www.autocross.com/evolution
And set up pressures biased. So you may want to run 44f/39r to get some rotation in or 40f/45r

First and foremost, remember to have fun and tons of it !!!! Do not worry about competition for your first autocross. Just learn how to take cones at speed and stay on course. Hopefully, someone with a CRX will be there, ask there advice. Make sure to get there early, maybe help set up the course. This way you can learn the course and they may give you some free runs at the beginning before people show up. Also, let a pro drive your car, and sit in the passenger seat. This is the best way to learn. And if you forget, make sure to have fun !! Good luck !!!
One thing that really helped me stay in my seat when i go autocrossing is to pull your seatbelt across you, and just before you click it into place, give it a few twists so that the belts cross over themselves. This will keep the belts tight throughout the course. There is my tip from one newbie to another.
A few generalizations...
1. Don't worry about your car or its class.
2. Don't worry about how you do.
3. Talk to the other people there and ask questions. It's a very helpful crowd that is always glad to see another get addicted
4. HAVE FUN!
Definitely read the links above, they're good. As to your past experience...I wouldn't worry too much about not being in the center of the car - unless you regularly hit things with your right side wheels
You've probably got a good idea of vehicle dynamics already.
I'd definitely suggest walking the course with an experienced driver before you drive. And don't assume that the technique, or the line, you'd use in some other type of motorsport will apply here. Be open minded and try stuff.
Above all...have FUN. And make sure to tell us how it goes.

thanx for the info guys, i know its all about fun, thats why im going to try it. i know about walking the course i raced quads on a national circuit. i know different lines are always there, just curious of some tricks to help my car be a lil more predictable thats still withen its class, and for the seat belt trick, it cant be done in a crx, the way the belts are each has its own roller and it dosent slide through the lock like most, i heard about it and went to try it. thanks again guy and ill let you know how its goes

You can also try sliding your seat back a click or two from your driving position, give the belt a sharp jerk to lock it, and then slick your seat back forward. That worked in my Integra to pin me against the seat pretty well with the factory belt.
