Default Thin headgasket Qs...

Anyone mess with a stock Honda headgasket and take out the middle layer to make it thinner? I've heard of this but never tried or seen it; perhaps this should be posted in tech. I thought I'd ask the EF guys first, since we've got a lot of DIYers here. Okay anyway, any info about this would be appreciated.

Well, us EF'ers ( ) have a stock fibrous head gasket. However, the 92-95 EX head gasket is metal, and I'm pretty sure is thinner, and a direct bolt on for our cars. I"d never ever ever take a head gasket apart before using it, it's just something I wouldn't play with.

Just take out the brass rivits with a drill or a pair of pliers and remove the middle layer. I believe it ups the compression by .3.

It's weird, on the mugen gaskets they remove the top layer of the gasket. I was mic'ing some old mugen gaskets and stock ones at work today. There was about a 10thou difference between the two.
