sohc edelbrock kit @ 9psi
I got my halman mbc on my kit and turned the boost up to 8 then 9psi on my d16. No additional tuning at all. It screams all the way to redline. Pulls like a dream. I'm building my block up soon and gonna see what 15psi and a little tuning can do. This kit rocks

LOL....my car was sponsored and built by Edelbrock for the last SEMA show at the LA convention center. Insider info....shhhh...don't have the SCC after me! :D Edelbrock extended the tuning on the piggyback up to 1 bar of boost. I'm sure they didn't test it to that, but was an extension of the 1500 kit tuning.

i hope you're actually monitoring AFR's and not just throwing around boost levels.

OT... Marauder - when is the d16z6 kit coming out?
P.S. it's your car on the cover of the edelbrock sport compact catalog huh?
I need to make some more money!! I need turbo!

i plan on getting the same kit for my ex d16y8. what other type of fuel mods are needed and did u use the stock injectors or the injectors that came wit the kit?. would i need a bigger fuel pump, a pressure regulator or anything else for fuel management. cuz running 9psi does sound nice. but can the stock engine handle it wit no problem and stock ecu? thanx alot guys
yeah man stock everything will handle nicely. You have to use the 4 additional injectors. Make sure you have a good exhaust 1st. Get a good MBC and a 255 fuel pump. Might wanna look into a FPR but I still don't have one and I don't have any problems. It's a really easy kit to intall. The IM kind of a biatch but everything else is easy.
the I.M looks like a headache do u have any pointers when doing that ?what do u do wit the stock injectors. do u hook up the new injectors on the front of the manifold or in the back of it. cuz i had did searches and i noticed that injectors can go in the back of the manifold. thanx for your advice. if there is any other pointers u can give me please let me know. thanx guys
I am running the same piggy back managment "Turbo Link", I wouldn't up the boost without being on a dyno........ I had to pull a lot of timing to stop my car detonating, on the road it felt nice but the dyno told the story it was detonating with only 2 extra psi.

</TD></TR></TABLE>make sure you put the oil drain line on the turbo before you drop it in the car. Took me 2 hours to get the back bolt in. It's a pain in the ***. The intake mani's not so bad once you get your old gasket off. The extra injectors go in the back of the mani. You'll actually have 2 fuel rails. Don't skimp on the wiring. Make sure all your connections are secure. I hope everything works out for ya'. BTW I'm keeping mine @9psi. I don't even bog let alone detonate. But I ussually keep it at 7 when I'm daily driving. I'm not too worried with my new fuel pump. Oh yeah, make sure you get 1 or 2 step colder plugs and close the gaps to about .025, that's where mine are at. If you have any problems, IM me or email me and I'll be sure to help you. Make sure you hook up your boost gauge before you make your 1st run with it. Ditch the nylon line they give you and use a rubber vacumn line. It's easier that way. **** luck.

Even dyno tuning isnt the answer to detonation....the minute you leave the dyno your car is already out of tune...there is no such thing as the perfect tune or no detonation...There is so many factors that come into play.....My friends eclipse knocks one day on 22psi and the next day he runs 25 psi and there is nothing (data logger and mitsu awesome knock sensing abilities)....You cant predict it, you cant stop it, it happens....detonation is life, no one can say im not detonating (cause its not true)....Sorry to disapoint all you "i have the perfect tune" believers

They are tuning it right now. Think its due out April/May at the latest.

Yep....that's my car alright, did some photochop on it to change some of the vinyl decals around, and make it look like its moving! Haha....
Edelbrock has also had a built Y8 on their engine dyno and boosted to 20 psi on the turbo kit, and from those results, they are releasing the open-track turbo kits.

so im gonna be using the injectors from the kit along wit the stock injectors? and what kind of spark plugs did you use what brand?
thanx for your help again

Even though it may not be perfect you will get a much better tune using a dyno with Wide band 02 sensor Knock sensing equipment etc. Your friend sounds like he is running his car right on the very limit with a much more conservative tune, you shouldn't get any detonation.

And what makes you think you even get it tuned right on the dyno? You aren't tuning for all the different weather and load conditions.
Considering the edelbrock piggyback adds more fuel and pulls more timing with boost, it'll run pretty damn good, as long as your fuel pump can deliver the fuel. Timing is the biggest issue with detonation. I know some guys who are running 10-11 psi of boost with no timing control, just fuel.
