Default B16A2 Or B18B

Which one would be better for use NOT at the track.....just as an all purpose engine
this would be for a 99 Civic Coupe DX Im just trying to get some opinions as i do a little homework on both of these engines......i have been leaning towards the B18B for the mid range torque, and then the easy VTEC conversion

I like the B18B, this coming from a guy with a B18C5, VTEC isnt everything.

it depends....for fuel economy and fun factor B16A, but like everyone knows lack of torque sux.....

B18B is a good motor and can be as fast as B16A, my combo would be a B18B with a GSR, Y21, ITR tranny, lightened flywheel.....the best two thing you can do to a b18b

also consider a B20B or b20Z which is not much more expensive but with even more torque then b18b....and with a Y21/ITR tranny, lightend flywhell it can run mid 14's in a coupe or RS teg....the above combo (he uses YS1 with LSD (JDM)), is used by my buddy on a DA integra (93), it puts out almost 140whp and 138lbs of torque....all stock....no header, no intake, no exhaust all stock....(its a JDM b20B)

Go for the b18b its alot cheaper and you a can always go ls/vtec. My cousin did a 14.5 in his stock eg, and stock engine with no work at all. I think he got lucky. LOL

I just put a b16 in my car. It is pretty fast, but not fast enough. Will anything ever be? It kinda sucks that I have to rev the crap out of it to go fast. Torque is a really nice thing. However, I think that if you like to beat on your engine, the b16 is the way to go. Those things are built like a tank, and with the short stroke and good rod length piston speeds and sidewall loading isn't bad at all. It will last forever.

Plus, I don't know how reliable LSVTECs are in the long run. If honda knew it was a good combination, why didn't they do that in the GSR?
