Ladies and gentlemen, here she is. The newest competitor in the All-motor NHRA class for 2004.

Bergenholtz racing announces it's new Mazda 3 for the all-motor class. The car will be piloted by yours truly and should be completed by mid year. It will be using the Mazda I4 2.3L engine. Here are some pics of the car as we got it new and I will have some progress pics as it comes along. Just thought some of you guys wanted to know. See you all mid season!

C'mon, I'm only 6'3"....... The car is actually pretty big. Long wheel base, etc. I drove it for a couple of days before we started to strip it. I will post more pics on it tomorrow. It will remain a uni-body car and just have a really nice cage in it. Keeping the same engine and trans configuration. The all-motor class just seems so competitive and fun. It should be a good time. The car will debut at IAS ( Sema in LA Convention Center April 2 - 4, 2004 ) in the Mazdaspeed booth. Thanks for the good words gentlemen. Can't wait to go racing with you all!

On a side note, the Mazda 6 will be running an exhibition pass at the NHRA Winter Nationals Feb. 22, come out and see if we can make something happen.

p.s. if you think this car looks weak, race me when I am done with it......

He in no way represents the East Coast, actually he's originally from the West Coast (I wonder what that says )

Congrats Man!! I've been talking to Ron about this over the past few days...
I'm going to watch very close.. I would love to put a I4 2.3 into my Miata and run All-Motor RWD here in Canada.. (We have no Mazda All-Motors and no RWD all-Motor cars) With the HP goals you have it should be amazing for a FWD app, nevermind a RWD app.

Thank god I have a lady that accepts racing for it's timely effort and appreciates the hard work that goes into it.

Racing and girls, they look so good together, but it is rare to find one that sticks around long enough to appreciate it and accept it!

why the hatch tho? Wouln't you be able to make the sedan lighter than the hatch? (plus i never liked the protege 5 and neither the new 3hatch, the *** looks like a Vibe and to me 4 doors and a hatch=station wagon )

 

Congrats Vince, any details on what you plan to do with it? Expected power? Tranny?

 

I personally think the new 3's look great compared to the protege 5 from last Generation.

I was gonna buy one for my Wife...those things are pretty peppy straight from teh showroom floor
