Default CHANGING INTAKE MANIFOLDS.. SOME ???...

I'm planning on swapping my stock GSR intake mani out for a JG intake mani, and im also running my stock P72 ecu, my question is how will it affect my car? I know that the ecu will probably still have the butterfly, am i correct? Is anyone running a aftermarket intake mani with their stock P72 ecu? How does your car run, any problems, etc.

it wont run funy but youll get a code. i think if you run a p28 ecu then you wont get a code but im not 100% on this.

Will the secondaries still read on the ecu? i.e. vtec will kick in twice?

the secondaries only run off of vacuum as far as i know... and yes VTEC will still work.

How do you figure this? Also just as others have said the IAB's have no CEL... People call it "having two VTEC's", etc. but it really isn't... Don't even think of it as VTEC, it's just a allows the same volume of air to enter the motor under less restricition... VTEC is a totally serparate independant of the IAB's which I personally don't like... That's just me tho... The Victor X/Edelbrock is a good FI IN manifold... We use them on most of our FI setups

I say the car will be slower because he's using the edelbrock intake manifold on a low boost application. The edelbrock mani will only help on the top end and if it's a high boost application. The car will lose the mid range it once had with the stock manifold. I'm assuming he's running on 7psi or so and with that assumption the edelbrock manifold will hurt his performance. Make no mistake about this, I'm not making an asumption! I guarentee the car will feel slower!!

You are correct, I'm only at 6 psi right now, but im planning on building my motor to boost 15+ psi. Thanks for the input.

Lane's stock sleeved B18C on 12lbs. originally had a SK2 IN manifold... Swapped to a Victor X retuned several times and it just keeps getting a little bit faster... He runs consisitent 11.50's which is nothing special but not bad for pulling a 2600lbs full interior EJ6 down the track on 92...

If you are planning to go to 15+psi then fine, go with the victor x intake mani. You will be fine! You won't throw any codes etc.. The IAB's are controlled by vac rather then the ecu.

Honestly, you will get better mid-range performance with a skunk2 intake mani rather then the victor x for 15psi.

I run a JG vector X on my B18C and had it on there before I had turbo. I was very pleased there are no CEL when running a p72. And the manifold does make power even on non turbo applications. I love mine.

Ive heard this before about the JG mani.

And in your experience, the SK2 is the manifold of choice for low boost applications?
