who tuned it first of all?

second do they know what they are doing?

check to see what your rev limits are set at, also your ignition timing tables

It's been a while since I played with the EMS, but there is a box where you enter your rev limit, and it is preset at a very conservative value. If you can't find the actual table for it, then go to the index that lets you view all options alphabetically and find it in there. Sorry like I said I don't remember exactly how to navigate to it. That's your fault for asking on these forums instead of the forums at AEM.

Tough to say... troubleshooting this type of thing can be tough since this condition could be induced via any number of the ems' features. I would start by going through all the tables and parameters to check if any settings look unusual or change dramatically around 6krpm. So when your car did this on the dyno, Shaun had no ideas what it could be? He just tuned the car up to the rpm where it started cutting out? You could induce the problem while watching the long list of fuel/ignition parameters to see if anything catches your eye - I'd first probably try to verify that fuel and/or spark feels like it is being cut or actually is being cut.

Oh and check all of the settings associated with vtec. There aren't too many other rpm-activated features you'd probably be using.

im using stock iginition. me and shaun both came to the conclusion that it was something having to do with ignition. when it would get to about 5900 rpm the timing would break apart, kind of like a rev limiter. maybe vtec wasnt kicking in?? but we lowered vtec to about 4500...

E-mail me the file and I will check it out. Please include parts on your car and what not also if you have a log that would be great too.

is your VSS reading properly in the ems? the calibration i sent you has a 2step setup at 6000 rpms and is set to turn off at 10mph. if the vss isnt working correctly then the 2step wont turn off...

LOL, that would suck if you wasted a whole day because of the 2step. Regardless, the 'tuner' should have checked that out from the get go.

also check your base timing....

If you still need assistance, feel free to send me a copy of your map and I'll troubleshoot this with you. My first inclination is to say your 2-step rev limiter is engaging. This is very common...I see faulty VSS calibrations or sensors on quite of few of the cars I tune. If you're still on V.94, then it could be a speed limiter (bug) as well. If it's neither of those two things, we'll have to go through a few procedures to track it down. Good luck and let me know if I can help.

AEM always warranties their units. All you have to do is call their tech line and they will issue you an RGA number if the unit is deemed defective. Let's hope it doesn't come to that Take care!

Check to see where your fuel cut is set at, as well as your ignition cut. If you have your 2step rev limiter set up correctly, it will only work when your clutch is depressed. BTW, what version are you running?

i setup his calibration to get the car running so he could get it to the tuner.. the main rev limiter is at 9000 rpms, the 2 step is a 6000 and set to turn off at 10mph, not with a clutch switch.

did you tell him you set up his 2step at 6000..? He's complaining he can't rev past 6000 rpm. This is probably why.

We know...this has been covered above. If his VSS isn't working correctly or his calibration is setup incorrectly, then his 2step is engaging.
