Default get VAFC or not?

Guys you can see what i have on the car right now in the sig. Wondering if you think it would help me a lot on power with this unit. I have heard good things about it if you know how to tune it. I would get it on a dyno and have it tuned professionally and never touch it. What kind of gains can be had with this part? Thanks in advance.

i would say no............if you had a set of TODA, JUN, SPOON, CROWER or any other aftermarket cam's then it would be worth while for tuning......on the stock engine it "might" help a little but not enough to justify the cost.......

If you can get a good deal on one, and you plan on getting a set of high lift/duration cams in the near future, then go for it....Otherwise, with your mods you don't need it.

BTW - were you the PY ITR making a left that I flashed my high beams at the other day?

I have a brand new Apexi VAFC for 300. I am in South Fl, u can pick it or I can ship it to u for 300.. Let me know . Fynejatt21@aol.com I have that 400+hp TypeR. Going standalone, so don't need it.

Shabazz,
So you're finally going standalone fuel management, huh? What happened?? Were results fluctuating with the V-AFC? I thought you had gotten a tremendous increase in power by tuning it. I live in Fort Lauderdale, how much if you don't have to ship? How old is the unit?
Anyways, good luck with the car. Can't wait to see low 11s.
I have to call John soon.

No. the power was nice and tremendous. I am going all the way. I am resleeving the block aswell now and changing compression. Looking for 500+hp street drag car. It is brand new. I used it for a day for the event. If u are interested, u can have it for 300. Let me know. Give me a call if u want it. 954 857 5639.

I used one with the stock cams, JDM 4-1, test pipe, CAI and 2.5" exhaust and got some decent gains. Car was still running rich at most RPM points with those mods, so I used the V-AFC to lean it out. I did not gain 10 hp, but I did gain 7-8 in some spots.
Worth it now, yes. Even more worth it when you change fuel/air requirements of the car, IE Cams...

Yep, by leaning the aif/fuel ratio to stoich or near stoich in creases performance. Even changing the vtec x-over point to 5,500rpm feels better.

VAFC is a must.

Mike~

Here is a graph showing what the VAFC can do for your mid-range! VTEC point was lowered and fuel was altered.

Chris:

I dont care what they say about you (your an alright guy). I thought your car was one of the best R's at NOPI (we talked for a bit). Thanks for the good graph. Looks like i will be saving up my pennies for this next mod.
