Default importparts.com Drag Turbo Kit deal ... few quick questions.

Hey folks, I was thinking It'd be worth asking people with some experience in these matters.

importparts.com are offering special deals on the Drag Gen 3/4 turbo kits, I was wondering is the quality of these kits good for a "bolt on" kit. Additionally are the "free" $500 or so extra's actually worth their weight in shipping or not really worth having ?

I hear mixed reviews about the drag kit, at the moment my ambitions are for a quicker daily driver, with the posibility to upgrade in the future.

Also, are importparts.com a good place to buy from ? Anyone have any negative positive feedback.

Appologies if these are pretty basic questions, forced induction is relativly new to me (I'm still reading folks ...)

Thanks in advance for your help chaps n chapets.

Hey man thanks for the reply I guess you could always turbo the lawn mower while your there

Got another couple of quick questions for ya. When does boost start to build what sort of RPM range. I was ideally looking for a turbo which would help with the poor pull my motor experiences at low revs (Only a little increase, just enough to help me round town) say starting at 2,800RPM and building all the way through, or past the vtec cut in point.

I take it this can all be changed via a boost controller or timer and VFAC ?

Thanks for your help man, your integra sounds pretty nice.

all i have is just the turbo kit and i reach bout full boost about 2500 and man it goes after that. the b16 of course would sound really nice with the kit just make sure you use an aftermarket exhaust cause you could use the stock but could cause the turbo to spool slower and not breath that good, based on my experience. If you decide to run open downpipe then youll spool at full boost in no time the only problem is that the neighboors start to hate you because they cant sleep at nite when you come home from closing at work

I never really used a boost controller cause 7psi is just enough for stock internals, now if u get around to building your block then maybe you can do like 25-30 like i will in a little

how does your t3/t4 turbo that comes in the drag kit make full boost by 2500rpm? I have a greddy td05 kit and an apexi ball bearing kit and neither make full boost by 2500rpm. Ive also been in friends cars that had a drag 3 kit and a revhard 2c kit and neither even started to spool until 4000rpm.

Id say for better drivability get a greddy td05 kit. The turbo starts to spool around 2800 rpm and is at full boost by 35-3600rpm (12psi is what im running). Makes the car much more livable with around town driving.

i have the drag 3 kit on my Si. Im pushing 14.4 psi with 311 whp. It's my daily driver, but I also have hondata, which makes it easy to run 10 psi daily, which is what I do. Around-town driving feels like a stock civic. I dont start to spool till about 3500-4000 and I am at full boost by 5500. The deal from importparts is good beacuse you get a hondata s200b with it (i think you still do). That is worth it in itself. for hondata

Thanks for your replies folks. I know the Drag kit makes around 240hp but what does the Greddy make around with stock internals on the Si, I think the Greddy might be better then if it spools earlier, our roads arn't like yours, we simply wouldn't have the time to build up that extra power, I figure if it spools up at like 2,800RPM it would lead you nicely to the VTEC power band which by then whatever is racing you would be history anyways

What sort of prices in the states are you paying for the Greddy kit, I'd have to have the front mount intercooler kit as well but what are your recommended suppliers ?

I've heard you get boost creep on the wastegate thats fitted so I take it that could be bypassed and a Tial item fitted instead with very little work, wotcha all think ?

Thanks for your replies, keep em coming, always good to hear whats a happening out there.

this place has decent prices on the kits. I dont know what your hp goals are but people have made more than 300whp with around 14-15psi, so theres definatly some potential in the kit. Ive never had any problems with boost spike, and have run solid boost up to 18psi using a mbc.

Also theres a few people selling the turbo and manifold in classifieds id look there
