Pass smog in Cali with ctr pistions in my ITR
i have a 2001 integra type R with civic type R pisitons. Compression is about 12.1 and i was wondering if i can pass smog if everything else is stock. Has anyone tried this out before with the new dyno machines? will a thicker head gasket like a cometic 78,000's lower my compression to around 11.5 and if so will that even be enough to pass. I have to go to CHP and get my car smoged there because i got pulled over for no cat. so people let me know what you think
You're fugged with those pistons
.
And then you'll most likely be in DMV's little system for high pollution vehicles and your car will likely need to be tested every two years.
So i'd get in good with someone who does smogs especially a Test only station.
Also you have to go to CHP for a smog check?.
Did they catch you with no cat through those little smog checkpoints?.
What i'd do from now on is if you see it up ahead is pull over and let traffic clear so you don't have to drive through all slow. When it clears and it's only you goin through it.Get a little bit of speed and right before you get to it shut your car off and cruise through with the clutch in.As soon as you pass it up cranker up and your off

You already have to test every 2 years in Ca.

What are some ways to reduce nox levels? run 2 cats? use smaller diameter exhaust piping? run really lean? do all of the above? sorry if I sound like a newb, but I would like to know this too, since I'm running CTR pistons in my GSR. Thanks.
