Default Slightly Off-topic...but check this video out.

How many of you guys think you are the best shifter in the world?

Check this Sequential M Gearbox Two (SMGII) out. This is amazing.

On it's extreme setting Sequential Mode 6 (S-6), it takes 0.08 seconds to shift.

That's TWICE as fast as Ferrari's F1 Shifter on the 360 Modena!

It also double clutches for you in some downshifting situations!...

All available to you in the new E46 M3 for $2700 extra!

Please listen closely to the 1st to 2nd gear Chirp. I remember hearing from someone that it takes alot to chirp a RWD car. Well here it is guys. Available to you.

*** http://www.leo.nutz.de/bmw/leo/a_beschleunigung.mpg ***

Enjoy my fellow CAR NUTS!

ILR, who would like a White M3 equipped with SMG II. *sigh*

Wow 0.08 seconds isn't fast enough to you?

You got a really high standard...That's good because it'll push the engineers harder.

Next, we'll see 0.01 seconds. And if that's not fast enough for you, I just give up.

Lordy, wow...how did you find our humble forum? I am a growing fan of the M3. I love them as much as I do my ITR if not more. But it is out of reach for some.

Glad you got the chance to test drive it.

You have one cool friend.

Damn dude, i'm just saying, from that video, it didnt seem like it was shifting THAT fast; its probably a difference of perception. i like m3s as much as the next guy.

Default Thanks, obviously I'm a BMW fan...

... and yes, it is expensive but for me worth every german mark
Compared to others like the 911 it is actually a bargain

I'm getting mine in April 2002, with SMG II ofcourse

A dream come true

Oh, and trust me guys; 0.08 sec is fast.. real fast!!!

E46 M3 = luxury sport car. Not exactly the same spirit that E30 M3 had in mind. I'll still take it and then sell it.

Luxury or no Luxury it's still faster than an E30 from what I heard.

The E30 and E46 M3's are no comparisons.

The E46 M3 is light years ahead of the E30 M3.

The E46 M3 is in fact the utlimate M3 to date!

The E30 has about 190hp and is about the same speed as an ITR. However, it is the purest of the USDM M3's and many find it more fun to drive as well. So I wouldn't say the E46M3 is the ultimate.

Other downsides to the E46 include the weight. It's about 3400 pounds w/o driver. The E36 was about 3100 and the E30 probally 2800.

However, speedwise it kicks ***. European Car Mag recently test drove a E46 making 400 hp with internal engine work.

SMG looks pretty bad ***, but I wonder how it will handle a upgraded clutch and LW flywheel.

I'm sorry, I don't know much about previous generations of the M series...

This should probably move to the members corner now...but just to be funny...

This is HK's version of the SMG II...

They both pack the punch.
