Default p30s on eagles.....

OK for my ls/vtec set up, the bottom end is gonna be b18b with eagle rods and p30s. I'm not sure what needs to be done to get this tho.

I mean I know CTRs have to be able to accept a floating wrist pin, and have heard rumors that the end of the rod needs to be shaved. I just wanted to clear all of this up, so my mech dude can do it and do it right.

Anybody know the specifics on this?

I mean I know a pin hole has to be machined, the pin has to be shortened....(how much??), and the small end of the rod has to be narrowed to fit into the piston.

if someone has a pic of this set up, it would be the best thing going. i already have the pistons and rods, so theres no sense to go buy a set of forged pistons when i could get them machined for 1/4 of the price with the same result.

you may not have to shave the pin, if you can get the C rings close enough to the outside of the piston to spin freely, but not so far out that it will slide back and forth, just measure very carefully b4 you cut, or clarify this with the tech that's doing the work, if you do have to shave (which i did) i'd strongly recomend having the piston/rod assembly balanced.

yeah everythings going to be balanced once its finished, its just getting their thats the complicated part.

i assume by the c rings u mean cutting the piston or the ring? i dont know the first thing about this, so anything else u could throw out would me a major help man.

edit- just read the part in the other post, gonna talk to the machine dude tomorrow.

a C ring is like a snap ring but it has portrusions on the opposite side (inside) so that the circumfrence is a flush circle. the bore for the wrist pin gets a groove cut into it and the C ring snaps into it to hold the pin in place.

yeah i know what you're talking about, it kind of looks like an E, but rounded.

Chances are I'm going to send them out to rocket and get it done rather than chance it.

atually the ones that look like E's are called e clips, and they won't hold up under those conditions, but hopefully you can get it done without too much hassle, good luck.
