new paint job
After slaving for hours on my car doing all the prep work it's finally painted. It still needs to be wetsanded and buffed. I have color matched side moldings and EK sideskirts for it that haven't been put on. completed pics will be up in a week or so. Some parts still need some adjusting to get everything to line up like the bumper and headlights. I painted a valve cover in the same color which i'll post pics of later. everything was painted from the trunk jambs to the engine bay except for inside the cabin. all the glass was removed prior to painting. the glass installer broke my front windshield taking it out but it needed to be replaced anyways. the back glass and quarter glass is being tinted and hasn't made its way back on the car yet.

it's my camera that makes it look sort of grainy. i didn't add too much metallic or pearl to the paint - it was mixed per the formula for the color code.
the color is lexus graphite grey pearl

It's safe in the garage

side moldings, door handles and chipped p28

valve cover (not on car in engine bay pic)

damn thats dirty! the radiator support still needs to be repainted where i scratched the hell out if it with the stock eg radiator support bracket. it looked fine when i was using that radiator but now with the gsr radiator in there it was visible because the upper brackets are in different places.

engine bay/body matches pretty well.
nice job man!
How did you get it to dry correctly in the cold *** weather? Any problems occur because of the cold? Im so tempted to paint my car right now, but its so cold here and im afraid even if it was in a garage it wouldnt dry right.. thanks! =]

nope the hood is a brand new oem honda hood. i also got brand new oem front and rear bumpers and a new EX lip for the front bumper. the fenders are cetifit's though (keystone). some stuff still needs some adjusting like the hood and bumpers and stuff but that's not that big of a deal right now. i actually did order a keystone hood for it but it didn't fit worth a **** and looked like it'd been through a hailstorm so i ended up making them take it back.

I did all the body work in my garage and shot some primer on it and then i took it to work to do the rest of the paint prep work. it was painted in a paint booth. we had the doors/fenders in one booth, the car in another, and the hood and bumpers in the third booth. then it was baked at a somewhat lower than normal baking temp for about an hour. after that it was in the shop for about two weeks where it's 70 degress during the day and 50 at night. my garage never gets below freezing so it should dry just fine as long as there isn't a tarp over it or something like that. plus the paint is Sikkens so it was pretty hard right out of the booths.
