Default distributor swap...d16z6 into a d15

i have a 95 dx hatch and i am swapping in a z6 motor but in the mean time my d15 distributor bearings are starting to squeak.

are they universal fit between these two motors?

I actually need this same question answered too. As far as I've read on it, you need a Z6 dizzy cap and plugs but i am not 100% sure on that

D16Z6 uses a different distributor with different mounting locations compared to the D15B7. The internal components are pretty much interchangeable though.

i've currently got my d15b7 (dx) distributor mounted on a my d15b vtec (d16z6 head)...

so, in essence, it fits. however, only one bolt lines up... and at best, it doesn't line up very well at all. i had to insert a bolt and nut to secure the dizzy, no longer a single screw.

it fits, but fits like crap

dont try it honda made specific dist. for each engine wait it out if you are doing the swap soon skweaking bearings arent the end of the worls and if something is going to happen it will just be that the bearing will freeze and that just might make it so that you do the swap sooner. That is if the bearing does freeze

According to this guy you can put a b7 dizzy on a Z6: https://honda-tech.com/zero...99688

IMO...putting a b7 dizzy on a z6 is like driving a car with your feet...sure you CAN do it, but that doesnt make it a good ******* idea does it???

yea man the z6 dizzy is weird. Its pretty much different than all the other d series distributors as far as mounting holes. I would just buy one for cheap instead of using your d15 dizzy.

sound advice fellas.

I would have never ghetto rigged it in the first place.

I just wanted to see if "by chance" they were the same, since a multitude of honda parts are interchangable.

Thanks
