I have a 2000 GSR head and the VTEC selnoid i have does not have the vtec pressure switch(green plug). The car is using a 88-91 Si harness w/ a pr3 reprogramed, so its not looking for the pressure switch.

problem: car want rev past 6500 rpm

solution: tried my ECU on friend's car....his car revved to 9k +

Question: What vtec solenoid do i have? and do i need a 88-91 b16a vtec solenoid to solve the problem?

In the mean time i am looking for an obd-0 vtec solenoid

 

vtec solenoids are the same. sounds like a bad ecu

 

you just need to get as solonoid that has a pressure switch. I think i have an extra or you can buy a new one from the dealer. You should see if you can barrow one from a friend to make sure that is the problem before you invest in one. I've done swaps where the jdm engine comes with a solonoid that has no pressure switch and has the same problems that your having, as soon as i change the solonoid everything is good
