Default 5th Gen Bumper/Fog DIY

Ok, before you tell me to go search...i did.

i want to make my bumperlights stay on...but here's the twist...i want my corner lights to stay off until needed, basicly switch the actions of both (corners off, bumpers on until needed)

i've seen it done and i tried just swaping cables, the corner light will work and blink when attached to the bumper light cable...but when i put the corner light cable to the bumper light, it doesn't light up or anything...

i've seen this done before and wondered if they used relays to do it or did they swap cables and i'm just not getting it to work.

I don't understand what you are trying to do, but you will need a relay when you hook your corner light wire to the bumper lights, because it is a higher resistance needing more wattage.

ok, what i mean is...look at the picture...ok, see how only the bumper lamps are lit up on the 5th gen? he somehow swaped the function of each lamp (e.g. corner lamp acts as bumper light, and bumper lamp acts as corner light...so only the bumper lamps are lit up)

and to not confuse you 96/97 5th gens, the 94/95 5th gen corners lamp DO blink...but yours do not *because the bumper lamps are bigger and have a wider viewing angle*

you cant use the stock lights or else they'll melt the housing

what i would suggest is get the blinker lights/sockets from a 92-95 civic they fit right into the lens

then wire them to a switch just like fog lights....they will not blink though

unless you wire a city lights kit into them like someone else suggested thats the only way i know of

I've Done this a million times...no they wont melt (the only time they DID melt was when i used the 1157 bulb with a set of APC bumpers and ran the high beam on all the time)

please, can someone tell me they understand this...if not, i'm just gonna wire them up with a relay...

oh, i know (and have done) MANY different ways...just i'm trying to get JUST the bumpers on w/o the corners...

each of these methods are using clear bumpers w/ ordinary clear bulbs on a 94/95

1.) Citylights/Extra Socket Method (easyiest, provides use of turn signals, but doesn't provide good lighting)

2.) 1157 Socket Method (a little harder, but provides great lighting and turn signals are "visible" but not as well as if they were blinking on and off e.g. what's more noticeable, flashing your high beams on with your lowbeams...or just your highbeams with no lowbeams...)

3.) Always on, Never Blinking (Cheapest *free, uses existing socket*...Provides GREAT lighing...but no turn signals...)

4.) Always on Relay Method (...trying now...basicly, swaping the function of the corners and bumper lamps...but the pros: GREAT lighting, Excelent visibility of Turnsignals *blinking on/off, instead of low/high* cons: can't think of any...)

my experimenting, has show to fail... it didn't work...
so if someone know how to make the bumper lights stay on, and the corner lights stay off (both until needed) and keep them from becoming hyperblinker...please tell me...

and the emblems...sorry, i'm slacking...but i'm getting off my ****

btw...are you saying you love me or you love Doing it Yourself? ...thought i'd ask...

you wont get a fog light effect cause the lights are adjusted or angled..

you ll have a bit more light wayy the hell down on the bottom.. good if you like need to look for something you dropped under your tire.. if your lucky

I think i figured it out guys. Well this is what i did and its working. Screw the stock harness it is for non creative diy's. Now you are going to need a adpater from straus auto called add a circuit something like that but all it is........... is two prong fuse looking thing u add to ur fuse box with a wire coming from it. pretty cool actually. now u will need wire and some female conectors. The female conector are for the bulb socket. using a test light firgure which connector on the stock harness is positve and the other which will be negative. make sure u do not get these mixed up. plug the female conector into the socket feeding with wire to the grounds nearby is always ideal less wiring makes it look cleaner and now run ur positve wire to your new add a circuit device (pretty cool) and what i did was i plug it into the day time running lights circuit right by the driver side kick panel fuse box. tada u know have ur diy fog lights wired to ur ignition looks great give it a shot and let me know what u guys think. just my 2 cents guys. I can't wait to get of this trial bs.

if this does infact work REALLY WELL, then take pics, start a new thread, and do a complete and detailed step by step write up.......then we can put it in the FAQ/Basic accord stuff sticky thread.......
