H22 Blues
Last week had of been the worst week of my life. I got my car back Friday and less than three hours after I picked it up from the swap shop, I find out my block is cracked. YES CRACKED!! Oil every where on the ground Hmm yall probably wondering what I did, well I didn't do ****. I'M NOT BLAMING ANYONE FOR THIS YET. I'm getting it towed to the swap shop and letting them figure out what happened. The crack is located on the axle bracket(driver side) where it bolts on to the block. The shop had to custom weld a plate so that the axle bracket would reach the block(this is something they do on 4th gen Accord swaps, that was what I was told). Anyways there are two bolts on the bracket one on the top and one on the bottom. OK this is my assumption what may of caused the cracked block. From what I saw from under the lift at my friends shop, the bottom bolt clearly came loose. When that happened that loose bolt put pressure on the block by jerking it. The block gave in and the peice of the block to the left of the bolt snapped. You can see a hole in my engine, it shocked the **** out of me. The crack also extended to my oil pan where some of the oil pan bolts were bent cause of the threads of the peice of the block that snapped. I was told I need to get a new block or get a new engine which I know would be easier. I have a 12,000 mile warranty on the work but as it stands of now I won't know what is covered until I talk to the owner of the swap shop later on today. I'll keep you guys updated on what's going on.
what engine? i can say with 100% certainty that there is NO welding involved whatsoever in a 92-96 h22 + tranny swap. I've done it myself, it's in my car. I have a friend who has a 97-00 h22 and he also has done no welding, but he lives in texas and i have never seen the swap so i am only going by his word, and he's a crackhead so who knows. This is for 4th gen accords, and we both used STOCK accord axles. I am pretty certain that your shop must have used the prelude axles.
anyway, something fishy is going on. . .

The engine is a '97 H22A4. Seems like the axle looked a little long cause there seems to be a kink in the boot and the axle was angled in an odd way. I'm getting the car towed there today, we'll see what they say.
Don't let them take you. Be evil if they give you ****. You have to be. People will take advantage of you if you're nice... I hate it, but that's how the import scene is played out today.
Good luck.
Well I have a 12 months/12,000 miles warranty on labor related problems. I hope this is under warranty My engine came off of a SH, but I used a Si tranny. On my receipt he stated that he informed me off the bracket from a SH to none SH conversion he made. I think he's refering to the custom bracket that he made for me. I'm not sure if he put that on the receipt so that he won't be liable for it or not. We'll see what's the word on my coverage
no way you need to weld **** for a swap to accord. i got a 4th gen accord with 95 jdm h22, and all you need is to get new axles, no welding needed at all. something WAY fishy
I did a swap into my 97 Prelude only cause I had hydrolock in my last motor, and there was no welding what so ever. I would take that **** back and tell them to put a new motor in it since they fucked it up.
