Default BULLETPROOF glass? bulletproof tint???????? ? ?

i was recently looking into bulletproof/resistant glass for my car.
i have had two out of my three break-ins occur with a window being shattered.
i'd rather the cops not pull me over for tinting the driver's side windows.
anyone know how much bulletproof glass costs?

someone told me there is a tint out there that makes it bulletproof/resistant..
he wasn't joking..so if anyone has any info let me know.

thanks

edit: oh yah, i can be held up at gunpoint and have a lil confidence hahahaha

IDK if this helps but I saw on the news once this film you put on house windows for this purpose. They hadd this huge swoll guy beating the glass with a baseball bat and it would shatter but he couldn't get through it. Idk the manufacturer but I know there is a special window film you can get.

The sl500 and 7 series have "guard editions" or something like that with 2 layers of bulletproof glass.. looks kinda cool..

Do a search on google.

One place said $4-12 per square foot depending on the thickness of the film.

Don't tell me you got broken into again.

There's no such a thing like "bullet proof" window film. You can get automotive window film in 2 and 4 mil for smash and grab protection but, for sure it won't protect you from a gun point situation.

3M™ Scotchshield™ Safety & Security Films

or

3M™ Scotchshield™ Ultra Safety & Security Films

and just call up any window place in the area and see if they can order and install for you? not sure how its installed on the glass but im sure they can tell you how.. or just call up 3M and see what your options are.. and let us know aswell.. so dont let this post die.. let us know regardless ..

lol i was joking about the gunpoint situation. i wouldn't feel comfortable if some guy had a desert eagle and all i had was my driver's side door glass with film on it. i'm mainly concerned about people smashing my window with a spark plug or crow bar or whatever they used to break my windows the two out of the three times i was broken into.

The bullet proof glass on the sl500 only stops a handgun, a rifle will still go through. Plus, they can still shoot your legs through the door.

Wow ...I see that its coming back .
If you want safety film...look into your local glass companies that install
glass/tint for homes...also local tint shops know about this as well. ( don't
know about you guys who live in "hooterville"..but most metro area glass
peeps know of it). Here is the deal about safety film..its designed to keep
windows intact if impacted ( originally designed for hi rises )..so keep in that in mind when you add it to your cars it will DELAY escape in emergency
situations....

Instead of creating a new post i figured i'd bring this one back from the dead...

Has anyone here had any luck looking into this?

I've been doing some research and looked into all the above mentioned company's.

Anyone else have experience to share??

I've found a few companys that sell the film.....anyone know where to get it installed?
