Tires, again
Tires, again.....
i know these have been asked so many times......
times to change my stock tires soon. the car started to skid badly in the rain.
i only have two options now for sorta all season tires:
dunlop sp9000,
bridgestone s-03 pole position.
I would love to try the s-03, but only comes in 205-50-15, preferably, i want to keep it stock size. dunlop comes in it.
should i try bridgestone at the size above? or dunlop in stock size? how much better would it be etc..pro cons....bla bla...

I don't have any experience with either of those tires (I have the Kumho 712s), but I think that you will find that most people go with a 205/50/15 tire when they replace stock. I know I did...
have you considered the Falken Azenis tire? they do come in both sizes I believe...cheap, yet very performance oriented tire...

The S-03 is THE best street tire money can buy. The Yoko A032 is street/race tire, superior to the S-03, but it doesn't last as much as the S-03. If you're not doing any racing the S-03 is THE tire (better than Dunlop 9000).
Azenis are not all-season...keep in mind that the biggest different between a summer and all-season tire isn't the tread, it's the compound, which is more resistant to cold temperatures....summer tires get too cold in winter months, it can adversely affect their peformance, even in the long term (once they freeze, they're changed forever).
You should be FINE with 205/50/15...... a lot of ppl use that size when they replace their tires from the stock.......I currently using that size on my car and very happy with the change

I went from stock tires to RE730 205-50-15 and I love them, good on the street, and I used them for 1 road race event and was really impressed at how well they did. When its time to get new tires again, I'm deffenetly gonna go with the Pole Position S-03 A little more, but probably well worth it.
No single tire does everything well. The stock RE010 is excellent in the dry, good in the wet. The SP9000 is very good in the wet, fairly good in the dry. Both suck on snow and ice. I haven't tried the S03.
If I were living in a place that gets winter - say, Chicago Illinois or Ithaca New York - and needed to drive my car year round, then I would pick up a cheap set of steel wheels and buy a set of winter tires. They're not expensive, they're a lot cheaper than repairing body damage, and they let you use sticky rubber the rest of the year.
