largest width size on a tire
I drive a 2002 Accord EX sedan that comes with the stock 15' alloys in 195/ 65 15. I was wondering if I could increase the width to 205 or 215?
ideally, the 195 fits best, but the 205's will work okay too......like a 205/55/15 or something.....they do stick out a bit but aren't dangerous, won't wear funny and aren't squishy feeling.......i'd recommend a lot of air pressure.....most of the time on that size 44psi is max, so 40psi at least.....makes for a rougher ride (mine is still smooth) but setting them at 32psi might allow the inside/outside to wear......
your wheels are 15x6"
I believe it's ususally the following for tires:
7.5" wide- 225
7" wide- 215
6.5" wide- 205
6" wide- 195
205s on a 6" wide may work, but if you're going to autocross it, you will get more sidewall flex...
IMO, I'd stick with 195. If you look at the V6 Accord, it has 205/65-15 tires, but it also has a 15x6.5" wheel...

around 16lbs I believe. You can fit a lot of size tires on different width wheels, I had 205 azenis on my 5.5" wide stock wheels, but I'd much rather have them on something 7 or 7.5" wide.
then you get outside wear on the tire, the warranty (implied or written) is then void if they find out it's on an improperly sized wheel, the inside of the tire will begin to break down, etc.........what's funny is when they pop off and the customer comes in and complains and you can say "i told you so" then charge them for a new wheel/tire

actually, I may have been wrong, You'll want to go by the measuring rim with range of a tire. For example the 205/60-154 Sumitomo HTR-200s have a measuring rim width of 6" which is perfect for our stock 15x6" wheels
normally you can find hte specs for different sized tires on tirerack, or on the manufacturer's website...

on the 98+ accords with 195 65 15s, the proper plus zero size would be 205 60 15. one thing you need to check is the width of the tire you are replacing it width on the spec sheet that tirerack has. just make sure that the tire is approved for the rim width. if the 98+ 15s are 6 inches then it shouldn't be a problem, but for the 90-97 15s which are 5.5 inches some 205 55s work better than others. my FM901s which are a tad narrower which fit better than the SP5000s i had on before.
