OK F*CKED UP THIS TIME!!!
Ok, so I'm racing this Celica GT and we're waiting for this long light to turn green, so i put my hand brake on. The light turns green and I floor it. I notice a lot of squeeling and wheel spin, more than usual and i'm going really slow, then i shift hard to 2nd and i almost bog the shift and i'm like, wtf is going on, and i see that my hand brake is still on!!!! ****
How badly did I **** up??
i'm gonna take it into the dealer ASAP, i really hope i didn't **** it up bad. what's the worst case scenario here?
BTW, when we did race a 2nd time, sans hand brake, I beat him.

Did you feel anything different when you drive home, specially your rear brake?? If not, then everything should be OK.
BTW, I see that you are from Edmonton, so did you goto the last Battle of Import?

Yep, that's me!! Who are you??
As for your hand brake thing, just check the rear rotors, if they look OK, then it should be fine!! Oh, try to make sure your hand brake still work would be good!!

Worst case scenario here would be that your car is trashed. You might as well give it to me!
Seriously, your only problem would have been extra brake wear. Driving through just second gear, though, and then realizing your mistake, it's doubtful that you'll ever notice the difference in wear. Don't worry about and don't waste your time at the dealer.

i know this chick who just got a 97 eclipse. the first day she drove home, about a 20 minute drive, she gets out of her car and both of her rotors are smoking like crazy. she forgot to put the ebrake down the whole trip! she had no idea, i guess because she never drove stick before and it was a new car so she didnt have the feel of it yet...
You do not "See" warpage.
You "feel" it.
The pedal will "pulse" as the warps in the rotors pass the pads.
Sounds like the pre-race adrenaline got to you.
Unless you're on a hill, you don't need to sit there with your hand-brake on.

My friends once drove from Coalinga to LA (a good 200mi or so) with the ebrake fully engaged. It was a rental car with the ebrake pedal on the floor, and they all owned small imports with the ebrake next to the shifter...
They roasted the rear brakes pretty well.
Never buy a used rental car...

so the only thing that could be fucked is the rear rotors?? nothing was pulsing...
ok, i thought i would **** up my axle or something

Your rear rotors wil not be messed up at all, seeing that you were smoking the front tires, the rears were locked up by the hand brake, all you did was drag the tires.
I would worry about your clutch, if you shifted into second and bogged you might have smoked the clutch a little....but not enought to do permanent damage, just shaved off a few hundred miles of its use.
