Default Bought a GSX-R600 and have some questions

So I bought an 01 600 off ebay and he lives about 2 hours away so he's delivering it on sunday.

It has a Yoshimura RS-3 exhaust and I read on their website this is a full exhaust system, what do you think about the pipe, pros/cons?

out of curiosity, did you check out the bike firsthand? yoshi exhausts are fine, i wonder if he added a power commander.

looks like a slip on only (mid pipe gives it away).

The question you want to ask is whether the carbs have been re-jetted for the pipe. Try and get the stock exhaust with the bike if you can. After market pipes are sound/look better but they rarely perform better from a street riding standpoint. You are trading low end power for high end power.

Cheers,
Sean

Pipes fine. What did you pay? And how come you have so many cars?

The bike's FI. And with only a slip on, he doesn't need to remap.

Well, I just noticed he lives in the "mile high" city. You might want to get some tuning to adjust settings to your altitude

So you're sure it's a slip on, I thought yoshimura's site said the RS-3 was a full exhaust system.

I haven't sent him money yet I'm going to look at it tomorrow and if I don't like it I'll give him his 100 dollar transport fee and send him on his way.

You can get slip-on's and full exhuast systems, you don't just have to have full exhaust, prolly 75% of bikes has just slips on so it their bike sounds cool... that is just a slip on, otherwise there would'n't be the yucky stock midpipe you can see on the side, what happened to the 02 R6?? why would you buy an older bike than the one you have?? if you can't tell the difernce between a slip on and a full exhaust by looking at it your defently gonna get scammed at some point.

He never said it was a full exhaust, I was just assuming. What happened to the 02 R6? I got this 1000 dollars cheaper, and it has fuel injection, plus I went to a dealership and sat on all the 600's and I liked the GSXR the best.

It's all good because I heard slipons give you better low and midrange power wheras a full exhaust would give you top end..

I'm getting it tomorrow before 12 so I'll report back after I take it for a test drive.

A slip on does next to nothing for power ...maybe 1 hp if that....its strictly for looks and sound....full exhaust however does give an increase it power and also reduces weight of stock exhaust

a silp on will reduce more wieght then a header think about and i have seen slip ons add up to 3whp

and as for yoshi i had a v&h s4 on my gix 750 and replaced it with a yoshi rs3 and it sounds much more unique not just loud

sweet wheels man

Uhmm no, going from a completly stock system to a full aftermarket system will drop more wieght than going from a completly stock system to a slip on pipe.

Here's a picture of the gear I bought:

It's an HJC CS-12 helmet, Gericke Tribal 1 piece leather suit and Joe Rocket gloves...

I got the 1 piece pretty cheap, 375.00

Just hiking boots for now, I only have 300 dollars left after I buy this bike and I still need frame sliders, I also want to give my dad some money for helping me get my car ready to sell, I might buy some cheap boots of ebay...

I'd rather protect my ankles than my fairings... But that's just me. If you happen to have one of the (few) sizes they have left, http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com has some really cheap Oxtar boots that are supposed to be pretty good. Not sure if you could return them if they didn't fit though.

I was planning on buying boots I just didn't know what to buy .
