97 Accord EX Coupe VTEC Tranny
Hey everyone. I bought my 97 accord ex coupe vtec automatic with 146,000 miles on it. Ever since I got the car, I notice some problems with the car. The car seems normal when left on either park or neutral. But when i shift into drive, it produces a vibration which can be felt throughout the car. The vibration goes away once I accellerate. Another problem is everytime my car switch into the next gear, it sort of "jukes" the car and then goes into the next gear. Also when I decellerate and when it shifts back into the lower gears, it also gives a jukes. Also another thing is when I shift the car into reverse, it gives a really big juke. Can someone please help me with this situation. Thanks.
my 98 does the same. slight vibration in all gears at idle only and transmission slightly "jukes" from first to second and sometimes from second to first. all other gears shifts perfectly. transmission fluid perfect. i have 116k miles. Is this normal with Honda's?

what does the number of cylinders have to do with how the tranny shifts....not a thing
anyways, what kind of person was the previous owner...i've heard many people complain of their transmissions doing this after people "manually shift" their automatic...a good flush would probably do some good though...

I have a similar problem with my 97 Accord LX. Last night my g/f was leaving work and she let the car warm up to operational temp before putting the car in to gear. She backed up and when she put it in to drive the check engine light came on. Then she said that the car shifted into 2nd really mushy like but 3rd and overdrive it shifted fine. But when she came to a stop she said it seemed like the car wasn't down shifting right. The transmission is a new rebuilt one put in by the dealership here less then a year ago. We may have put 8,000 miles on the car since that time. Any ideas why it maybe shifting poorly? And what may have caused the CEL? Thanks for the help.
