15's or 17
Which would be better for traction? cause what Im runnin now is my GSR swap now, and then turbo later, but my whp is 390 on street tires, but the motor is gonna be built for 400whp max, so what kinda tires would be the best way to go?
Honestly, with that much HP, traction is going to be an issue one way or the other. You will definatley need a 7 inch wide wheel (and wider if you want to do flares) and some wide tires (215 is about all you can fit in a stock wheel well). At that point though, it's really what you want. 4 lbs of rotational mass when you can burn your tires up to about 60 mph is not going to mean jack ****. The 15s are lighter and tires are cheaper/better selection. The 17s look better to some people, but the tires are more expensive, are easier to bend/crack due to the smaller sidewalls on the tires, and there is less tire selection.

15 definetely. let me add a concrete reason.
yes at that much power the weight wont mean much,
but you will actually WANT the high sidewall of a 15" tire, you want your tires to be able to squash a bit, it'll make the contact patch bigger, and "gummy"er.
why do you think people run like 22psi tire pressure when drag racing?
if you had a 17" wheel with a tiny *** sidewall tire, having that soft tire wont help much because it wont have far to squish.
hope thats clear.
if your going for such power.. why not just get a set of wheels that are PERFECT for racing, launching, and whatnot.
then another set that are just ok, but give you the looks you want?
thats what i'd do.
although I have a feeling you want something you can use all the time.. so you can spank fools on your way to work, hehehe.

Good points Tad, but the stiffer sidewall of the 17 actually helps to improve handling. The taller sidewalls of a 15 inch tire aernt going to be run at a pressure low enough on the street to have that gummy effect you are talking about.
I've had 17's on my car for the past few months and now i realize that it was a mistake to do that and i now want 15's again
. Go with 205/50/15 and you should have plenty of traction
