when i start my 94 EG it makes a grinding sound but still starts

it basically sounds like i am restarting every time i start it

any help????

 

maybe your starter is loose?

i highly doubt it is loose, most likely the flywheel teeth and/or starter teeth are done. you can remove the starter and look at it's enguagement teeth and the flywheel teeth through the starter hole. they are probably rounded off. there is no fix other than replacement, so at best you need a new starter, at worst you have to pull the tranny and change the flywheel. good luck. loose? lmfao...

edit: i just reread your symptoms. answer me this: when you start it does the car still sound like the starter is spinning after it is running? if so, most likely the starter solenoid is getting stuck, and enguaging the starter gear. remove the starter and inspect/replace it. im me if you need help with this.

 

def a bad starter. most likely thats all...do that first, if your still having probs come back................john
