Can't remove crankshaft pulley - PLEASE HELP!!!
My gf has a Honda Civic 94 GLi auto, the water pump needs replacing which means removal of the timing belt. Problem is, the nut on the crankshaft holding the pulley on is the tighest nut i have ever seen! i tried how i normally do it with other cars - turning over the motor with a breaker bar on the nut. didn't budge after like 10 tries. i heard u can take the dust cover off and wedge the flywheel with a screwdriver and use a knuckle bar to break it, but it is auto and the flex plate i fear would not be strong enough to hold, i can't find the dust cover on the auto anyways. HOW do i get it off...?
cheers, Mark.

drive to you local heavy duty machine repair shop and have them hit it with an impact real quick.
I would also be weary about the flex plate.....BUT, if you think about it, the outer diameter of the plate reduces the torque applied to it tremendously. Just a thought though.
Some people put it in gear and stomp on the brakes....but this is too much stress on drivetrain for my liking

just like everyone else said.. an impact wrench is how your gonna get it off..
i had this problem when i busted my timing belt.
ugh
i have had some that i could not get off with an impact. So i had someone lock the flywheel while i got on it with a 3 foot breaker bar and a jack handle for an extension that works wonders
