CRX Si Suspension Problems
I have tokico illumina shocks, nuespeed race springs, and I have replaced ALL of the bushings with polyurathane. After installing the shocks and springs I noticed that the rear spring was EXTREMELY short, i mean there was like a 3 inch gap between the spring and the upper spring housing (dont you usually have to compress the springs to get them in?). I put it on anyway suspecting something was wrong but when I lowered the car back down the damn thing was at the stock height. I mean, the front seems lower but the back looks exactly like it did before. Ive got the stock 14's up front and there's a good 3in gap...you can see the top 3 inches of the yellow spring. I checked the numbers and their right for the springs, so its not like there the wrong springs. Anyone know what could be the problem, i mean 2 inch drop is supposed to be someone extreme but I swear it didnt do a damn thing to the back, and the front isnt THAT low. Any advice would help
Thanks

Make sure you put the front springs on the front and rear on the rear of the car. Otherwise, they should compress and settle down to the correct height overnight. Make sure the springs are seated properly in the damper's seats.

Did you preloaded the suspension (or put the car on the ground) before tightening all the bolts?
If you tightened it all up with the suspension hanging down then that could be part of the problem.

ya, thats a good call with the tightening the suspension thing, but you would think after like 3k miles it would have worked its way into position, especially after an autocross and my crazy *** driving. The rear spring says R on it and it wouldnt fit on the front, too big, also in the back the spring completely rests on its self. Like its totally compressed, except for like the last 4 inches or so, thats the only part that is not completely compressed, i guess that has osmething to do with the "progressive spring rate" though huh? Any more suggestions would be freakin wonderful

I think I know what you are saying with the rear spring deal; the top 3 or 4 coils of the rear springs are supposed to be compressed totally together once installed (and loaded); I forget the term for them (something like "keeper" coils) but they are designed to sit that way. The idea is that when the vehicle is raised off the ground these coils spread and keep the spring properly seated in the top spring perch. If you are sure these are the correct springs (i.e. they are the correct part number for lowering springs, and weren't mis-boxed or mislabelled) and they are installed correctly front-to-back, then I would make sure the Tokico's are the right part number as well. After that, I'm stumped.
