Went to Hot Import Nights last night in San Mateo, and afterwards ate at Taxi's. Talked to some guys in another PY R with JDm Recaros etc, and they were telling me how Toda B Cams and Toda Camgears were not worth it and overpriced, and the best thing to get are Spoon Cams/camgears.. Which is better performance wise? were they BSing or what? They said the gains would be greater with Spoons.

 

well as far as overpriced, i've seen the spoon gears go for over $400 and the toda's are less than $300, so I don't know where they're coming up w/ that...

If memory serves me correctly, aren't the spoon cams more comparable to Toda Spec A's?

 

kinda weird, i saw a pair of Spoon cams going for about 1,045 at inlinefour but saw a pair of JUN 3's for about 4xx each or something like that. Any explanations on why spoon cams are so much?

 

Toda makes the Spoon cams and I believe the Spoon ones are a little more aggressive than the spec A's (if I'm recalling right from the last time I checked the specs). As far as overpriced, I think they're talking out of their ***. Anything JDM will be bank, even the crappy stuff. hehe

 

no Honda makes the spoon cams. They are bit more aggresive than CTR

 

Honda Makes Spoon Sports Cams, They are a bit more agressive than a Toda Spec A, But not as agressive as the Toda Spec B's

 

TODA cams is waste of money and over price?
If anyone can find a Spoon cams cheaper than the TODA B Cams, let me know!! Also, the Spoon cams is just a bit more aggressive than the TODA A, and no where in comparison with the TODA B.

I would go with TODA cams over Spoon any day.

That's the problem right there, listening to guys who are into the show scene
Some says that Honda makes the cams for Spoon, but it's not exactly right. There's a supplier that makes the cams for Honda and Spoon uses the same company. Spoon does the same with their other parts (they use Honda suppliers) like the brakes, suspension, etc. Spoon cams and TODA A's make about the same power, but the B's when tuned right make more power than both.

TODA makes the cam gears for spoon, if you look at the old TODA cam gears and current Spoon ones, they are identical. But the new TODA cam gears are awesome because they have a vernier scale on them that makes cam timing adjustments super accurate and they're way lighter than the old TODA and current Spoon cam gears.

 

Toda cuts the camshafts for Spoon but they are made from CTR Honda blanks (just like Spec A's).

 

So much mis-information out there!

Like Danny said, Spoon cams and Toda Spec A cams are Honda blanks, ground by Toda.

 

I agree with MGEINDC2R don't listen to guy's at show. This board is a great place to get infomation that is more valuable then those shows.

 

That is so true, I learn a lot just by reading the post, then I finally decide to sign up and start posting questions too.

 

Toda B cams are worth the money to spend. I think they are not overpriced. The Toda B set up will make more power then the Spoons.

For some places like having emissions control then Toda cams definitely will not pass. Spoon has a less lift and duration compare to Todas and they are emission friendly.
