Default Carfax question

I just ran a Carfax on what I think is an ITR - it came back as an Integra RS.

Is this the correct model (RS) for an ITR through Carfax?

Thanks

That is not correct.

Car fax on my car says "Type-R"

VIN# should start with "JH4DC231"

My R shows up as an Integra Type R, not RS. Ive heard of some R's showing up on insurance as an "RS" but not on Carfax.

Make sure you typed in the VIN correct.

Should show up as Hype R.

Here's the Carfax report...

VIN: JH4DC2310YS00XXXX
Year: 2000
Make: Acura
Model: Integra RS
Style/Body: 2 Door Hatchback
Engine: 1.8L I-4 PFI DOHC
Country: Japan

Looks OK based on the start of the VIN??

I don't know what the deal is on your Itr but my Carfax said 97 Integra Type R 2 door hatchback. Are u certain that you typed in the right VIN#?

I think it's the right VIN since the mileage shown on the report makes sense given the low miles and the location of the emissions tests is near where the owner says he lives.

contact the owner and start asking questions. if you are interested in buying from this person you better trust them and the only way to trust them is to start asking questions.

well wait, you might be lucky. assuming it is a real type R. then why wouldnt you want the vin to say RS. you know how cheap your insurance is going to be.

yeah but then when he crashes and totals the "RS", he only gets back like $5 for the value of the car

Not worth the risk, IMO.

This isn't the only VIN that popped up as a RS and turned out to be a legitimate ITR.

Does anyone remember any other threads about similar occurances?

Chris - goes to search.
