Help me choose a tire. 95 CBR F3
Any suggestions on a good rear tire? Im not a "aggressive" rider, I occasionally take trips to the hills for some carving, but mostly city riding and freeway riding. I want something that will get good mileage, but is soft and will heat up quickly. What are you guys running? Brand/model ? Dunlop? Metzler? BTW. check out http://www.theridersedge.net for good tire prices. TIA

That's an oxymoron. The tire lasts longer if it's harder, but doesn't have the same ultimate grip that a softer tire would have.

I'm with BoostedSi, I'm running Metzeler Sportec M1s (I've got an F3, also). So far, they handle EXTREMELY well. I'm not dragging knee (yet), but I have full confidence in my tires. My previous tires were Michelin Macadam 90x (or was it 100x...?), and they were decent, but not as confidence inspiring as the M1s.
And as for tire prices, I have a hookup, but thanks anyhoo.

The new Pirelli Diablos are AWESOME tires. They warm up quick, have good life, and are great rain tires also. That's if you ride in the rain ever. Personally I love riding in the rain. It's fun. Some other good tires would be Michelin Pilots, Metzeler MEZ4. Just to name a few.

Well, I was asking for something that might have some of each.

Can you get a better price than $100 for a 160/60/17? if so, can you hook it up?

Metzeler M1? $97.15. Unfortunately, there's not that much wiggle room with tires or helmets, so generally a price around $100 is a good deal.

Bridgestone 010 is what you're looking for. Sportecs are very sticky street tires, warm up quickly, relatively cheap but wear quickly especially when hot such as at track temps. The 010s are a good mix between touring mileage and soft compound. The 020s are a lot harder and the 012s are comparable to the diablo corsas. Some people like to run an 010 up front and an 020 in the rear. They wear out about the same time if you spend a good chunk going straight
Too bad that site doesn't sell michelins. Good prices on tires though

pilots are OK. i had them for years. but i fell in love with the dunlop 208's. there gripy as a son-of-a-bitch, and they always seemed to last me forever.
Dunslop 208’s might be fine for 600’s but dunslop 208 Suck on high powered bikes. They break loose allot even on the E-ways. I liked Pilot Sports and Sport Tec’s much better.
THX guys! Just ordered the metzler sportecs.. I will let you know how they work out. im taking a risk because i dont knw anyone that has ordered from that website before.
