suggestions on neon amp rack setup
call me rice, but its all in the inside of the car.
i got 2 cold cathodes. i m planning on making an amp rack and i need sum ideas are HOW i should build the daym thing and to HOW i should mount it. i had an idea on how to mount them, but that kinda doesnt sound too good anymore.
my original idea was to have a piece of wood carpeted and then have a piece of lexan on top of that. have the amp sit on top and the neons under it. the light will refract through the acrylic and light up the lexan like a sea of water ( thats the effect, it looks like a mini swimming pool at MGM hotel at night). only problem is, if i scratch that plexiglass a lil, its gonna look like ****. so anyone with any other great ideas? i dun want the neon showing either.
here was a test i did with my computer case. the pochacco sticker is blue and it is glowing like never before (yea i got cute girlie **** on my computer, but i didnt buy it)

To make sure I understand what you mean... you want to transmit the light throught the lexan/plexiglas?
If so, I helped my friend build a show car with some Alphasonic equipment. The amps have a plexiglas cover about 1/4 over the top surface of the amp. We wired several LEDs and drilled into the side of the plexiglas for them to transmit light (4 LEDs in a 10 inch long section, only one side was enough) through the plexiglas panel. He had a Greek "Alpha" etched in the surface over the center of the amp. This refracted the light nicely and glowed around the edge of that Alpha.
Describe a little more what you're trying to accomplish.

yea thats pretty mcuh it my friend. i m using cold cathodes to do this. image the pic of my computer panel with my amp sitting on top if it. thats why i want to achieve. but i m also taking second opinions on any other ideas anyone might have.
in your case tho, u need to sand off the dome on the LED if u want the light pattern to spray ( if you took optics in physics, u know what i mean). the best light beam would be if u can sand the top like an inverted dome, but thtas kinda hard unless u have a dremel ( not a cone, like a dented in circle). i dunno if 4 LEDs are bright enuff to light up the alpha. it really depends how far the light has to travel.
