Default Coming to Vancouver. Where do I go?

This message would be for the guys out in Vancouver and the surrounding GVA.

I am coming to Van on a business trip next week and I would be every so greatful to anyone that could suggest some shops to visit while I'm there. I'm not looking for anything in particular, however my ITR is still stock (only 7500km's) and I want to start the process of 'fixing' it up. I need names and addresses of quality shops in the area ( I will be staying at the Four Seasons which I'm pretty sure is right downtown ) so the closer the better, but I will have a rental so as long as I'm not driving to Seatle then it's all good. If any of the shops have websites could you guys post a link or the URL as well.

Sending appreciation in advance

Thanx.

there are very few car shops in the downtown area. you have to be in richmond before something happens.

your first obvious starting point would be http://www.aj-racing.com.

Well since someone posted the first stop, another stop or actually maybe your 2nd and 3rd one will be http://www.boomplustoys.net
They have 2 shops, one in Vancouver and one in Richmond.
If you are looking for JDM stuff, then they are a good choice for: Spoon, JDM Honda Access., Kakimoto Racing, TEIN, TRD, ARC and more to list.

There are many performace shops in Vancouver area. I usually goto Boom Plus Toys. They have very good customer service for walk in customer.

I don't want to say names here, but some of the shop in the Richmond area is not so nice for a customer that just walk in to browse. The give you attutide like "If you are not going to buy, go away!!" and always pretend to be busy!! That is very important for a poor guy like me that don't have thousand of dollar to throw away everytime I walk into a performance shop. You know, I enjoy looking at all the cool JDM parts and dream about getting it all one day!!

oops i forgot about that.... george is gonna kill me!!!

i've referred lots of out-of-town people who wanted jdm parts to a&j racing. usually if u call ahead, let them know who u are and where u are coming from, they will try and accomodate u (time permitting of course... for example, if u pick a day when they are working on my itr... tough luck! )...

i can see where some of this negative sentiment comes from, having experienced it myself once or twice. but if u sit in your favorite shop long enough and see some of the attitudes of the walk-in clientele (know-it-alls, "oh your shop is a rip-off prices because so-and-so is selling it for $0.05 cheaper",etc.), you begin to understand how sometimes shops go on the defensive sometimes...

bottom line: if they treat u rudely, walk out and take your business elsewhere. but if u act like a bastard expect a similar response

Goto BoomPlusToys and check it out. They carry many JDM products like Kakimoto, Spoon, TEIN, ARC, and etc... Their customer service is great and they did a really good job on my car!!
It must tell you something when I towed my car all the way Edmonton to have them do the engine swap for me. And I also drove 12 hrs from Edmonton to Vancouver to have them work on my car twice!!

if your gf buys it, she has to pay 14% in federal and provincial taxes, and then there is shipping costs to you, and i don't know what us customs charges u at the border. if u buy it yourself, u only pay one of the taxes (ie. only 7%).

Alan and Ben are right on the ball.

Alan just needs to smile more.

Yes, the shop here in Edmonton screwed up my TODA cam, and I have it towed to BoomPlusToys and have them fix it for me. I basically rebuild the whole engine.
I have to say they did a great job on the motor and my TODA specB set up is running great and idle like stock!! For sure they know what they are doing when it come to internal engine work.

TODA SpecB idle good? I am just speaking from my own experience. When I got the cams installed in Edmonton, the idle is like jumping up and down from 700-2000rpm all day!! And that shop in Edmonton couldn't fix it no matter what they do. That is even after I get the ECU from Yoshio.

Well, I did brought the engine from GP, but I didn't just drop it straight in!! Don't ask me why, top sercet!!

A&J Racing also gets my vote!!

I just walked in and asked some questions about mods. Alan took the time to answer all my questions and I appreciated it.

Other shops that i've been to aren't sooooooo nice! But i'm not gonna name them...
