I seem to recall you getting a ton of negative feedback in this forum because most of us were out of your age demographic
Regardless, I'm sure I'll end up watching. If I see a bunch of ricers/stunnas... well, I guess I'll be disappointed.

I just saw the commercial for it yesterday. At first when heard it was about street racers getting into real racing I thought "oh, cool" but when I saw "real racing" meant drag racing I changed the channel.
Anybody else see the show? It felt like watching a train wreck that luckily no one got hurt in. I don't know where to start and not sure that I'd want to.
Most real motorsports on Speedvision
This "Fast & Frivolous" wannabe
Having worked in the tv and video industry previously, it was technically well shot, editted, etc. but the premise and some statements were unfortunate.

It was pretty much a real snoozer. They sure reached their target demographic, because I watched it with a "been there, seen/done that" attitude.
Typical stunna fare--the chick racer with her basically stock SOHC'er (no offense to all you d16z6 guys) thinking that she was the bomb. Same goes for the dude w/ the stock Talon. Exciting hardware
That said, would I not love Dr. Charles or Apex'i to take my car and give it a $10k mechanical makeover??? Of course I would!!!
I just can't say that I can care about the drivers involved. Overall, it was kind of like "what not to wear" with stunnas. I'll definitely tune in again, but I can't call it gripping or compelling TV.

I watched about 10 minutes but lost interest. As soon as I heard "anybody with a SOHC is going to want to swap it for a DOHC.......unless they want to be slow," that was enough. Even better was the anouncement that swapping a SOHC to a DOHC will allow the motor to make twice the power...and that means twice the speed.
Same ****, different show.

I watched it, because I saw the commercial, and I wanted to see where they were going with the whole taking street racers and putting them on a track idea.
Dr. Charles and the A'PEXi guys are definitely respected car builders and tuners, that was basically the highlite of the show for me.
A stock civic ex could run those times the girl was running.

This was the lamest stunna bling bling ricer stupid mAd SkIlLz I've watched in a long time, if not forever. I had rather seen bobsledding.
The only redeeming bunch depicted was the APEXi crew. They had the just right amount of show, skill and go.
The drivers? The guy, if that were my kid, would be pedaling a 10 speed for transportation, and what was with all the Ann Landers/Dr. Joyce Brothers chit with the girl? TMFI.
Oh and, running the cars on an 1/8TH?
Guess it was the producers didn't want to get anybody killed if they went 1/4 mile speeds.

You know what bugged me the most about it? They take a kid who only races on the street and give him a bunch of free upgrades and mods to make his car faster, and let him run in this ridiculous competition (did they bracket race? or was it heads up? I don't know because I couldn't stand watching it). Do you think he's seen the light and will only race safely at the strip now? I seriously doubt it. Now he's got a faster car (for free) and he will be even more dangerous on the streets at night.

You can now catch bobsledding, luge, and skeleton on Speed Channel. It must get really slow in the offseason.

Probably more like Irwindale is the closest strip to Hollywood/Burbank where the studios are. Although, LACR in Palmdale has a 1/4 mile and probably the same distance in the opposite direction.

Yeah, heres a show for you right here in my house...
-Dad races
-Mom is going to racing school this weekend (what an opportunity you missed there).
-16 year old daughter has become addicted to autocrossing (won her first trophy 2 weeks ago, another opportunity missed)
-11 year old daughter watches all this and declares that she wants to go kart racing ASAP.
Its not just the building of the car and going racing. Its getting time off work, finding ways to keep the kids in school on the weekends where you leave on Thursday and return late Sunday, budgeting, fighting over budgeting, getting time off of work, budgeting, budgeting, finding someone to take care of the dogs, getting time off work, oh... and the fun at the track itself.
On second thought, nevermind.
"anybody with a SOHC is going to want to swap it for a DOHC.......unless they want to be slow," is much much more compelling than all of our silly ****.
Scott, off to finish pulling stuff out of attics and closets (winter storage) to get ready for this weekend.

Next time, do a little more research.
Running an AWD turbo car against a 1WD turboed Civic, ESPECIALLY in an 8th Mile, is like bringing a butter knife to gun battle.
The AWD Turbo Talon stock, does a 14.5 1/4mile... BEFORE mods. That civic, especially without a Limited slip, would be lucky to even BREAK the 14s.
On an 1/8 mile, even worse! ANY AWD Turbo just LAUNCHES out of the hole and if the the civic had enough HP to catch up, it would have to be on the TOP end... but wait... the 1/8 mile is here.
I didn't see anything special about either car... both had horrible drivers (the time the guy in the Talon ran a stock 1/8mile time too) and becuase they're horrible, they both EXEMPLIFY typical street racers... think they know it all, shown the right way, and STILL can't do well... and they race on the open streets with spectators!
"Wow $800 shocks from xxxxx". Color me impressed... not.
Do a show on people from the street turning left and right AND THEN you might have something.
Just throwing $$ at them to go straight.... will not bring light to the cause of them stopping Street Racing.

I thought this girl had some track time? But how come she was acting like it was her first time under the tree. You would think that they knew about the 1/8 mile run, so how come they didnt stick an LSD in the civic.
