Is not having a cat. converter good or not?
My set up is B20vtec. with jdm headers, ctr cams, AEM cai, and chipped computer so am I gaining power or losing with not having a cat?
if the cat isnt high flow you are restricting your motor .. im guessing the jdm headers have a 2.5 inch collectoer... get a high flow cat or just gut your cat... its good for power but bad for the enviorment... but o well your car will
be faster...

You may loose a little torque but will gain some back on your top end. When I was running a test pipe the engine seemed to rev quicker too wich is another small advantage.

Not having one makes your car louder and it's bad for the environment. It also makes your car stink and puts soot all over the back of it. Not worth it to me. I need a cat.

Has anybody ever done a back to back comparison with a N/A car that is under 180whp? In my opinion the gains wouldn't be that much from a high flow cat to no cat in a N/A situation.

3. Maybe need to tune your car to compensate for the missing cat ?

By my guesses, I would'nt say more than 5whp between the three, which is damn near negligble unless you are running side by side. I haven't heard one good thing firsthand about high flow cats (heard damn near all of them crap out within a year).

1. It may not seem quieter from inside, but think about it. How would something that acts as a resonator not quiet it down at all.
2. Your guess is as good as mine is.
3. I have tried tuning on top of tuning. I tune with a WB02 and some OBD software so I can get my fuel trim correct. I sit at 14.7 at idle and 13.0 at WOT. That's as close to the 13.6 that is "supossidly max power" from a FI motor as I could get the damned E-Manage (which is a whole other issue).

gutting your cat will do ****, maybe even make you loose power. gutting your cat causes unwanted turbulance; small pipe ---> large gutted hollow cat. section ---> small pipe. so if you tell me that you're gonna make power with that, then please school me. the reason why you make power with race cats and test pipes are because they're the same diameter piping and allows air to flow more smoothly.
