Default Please help me with my mini me swap

Ok I decided to start out with a mini me swap on my d16a6, I found a z6 head comes complete with throttle body, intake manifold, fuel rail, injectors, distributor, and wire harness. Its all off a 95 Del Sol.

I found this the most informative out of all I've looked at, but need some clarifacation :http://crx.honda-perf.org/articles/z6swap/z6swap.html

1. If I get a computer that goes with this swap do I still need a Vtec controller? What computer should I look out for?

2. The car has a new timing belt, can I use it or not? If not which timing belt do I need?

3. Will my exaust manifold on the d16a6 work with the z6 head?

4. Is it worth port and polishing this head or does it flow good as it is?

Thanks for your replies. -crombie09

1. if you get a P28 civic EX ECU then you dont need a vtec controller
2. You have to run Z6 Timing Belt
3. I believe you can use your old one but Runing a Z6 one is better.
4. it flow as good as the way it is but its better if its ported and polish.

1.Well would you rather get a p28 comp or just use the same comp and get a vtec control?

2.I just ask for a timing belt for a 95 del sol from a parts store then?

4. Well my dad builds engines for a living so this would be free, anything else I should do to the head that dosent involve expensive parts? I get all the labor for free. What kind of gains am I looking at by doing a P&P job?

Thanks

The guy also gave me a wiring harness to go with it, this is not the wiring harnesses you see on ebay (basic) I think it is the entire wiring harness! There must be 50 plugs on this thing, its probably 12 feet long. Do I need this to do the mini me swap? -crombie09

I have the samething in my crx. Is that the car your using?

1. Its better to use the p28. wire the vtec to the pins. well if you have the ex wiring harness then it should work fine.

2. You can use either of the timing belt. If I remember correctly its the samething.

3. The exhaust will work fine. All of them are the same.

4. The head flows very well.

let me know how it turns out.

You have to use the timing belt for the head that you are using. Just get one for a 92-95 Civic EX and you will be good. As for the ecu, you have a few options. Like the others mentioned, the P28 would be the best choice. It would be too much work to use the wiring harness that you got, I would just use the P28 with an OBD0 to OBD1 wiring conversion harness.
