Default GSR tranny on LS motor???

Any ill effects of this? Is this considered an upgrade or will the gearing be too high?

On an LS, third gear SUCK! The GS-R will give you a notable improvement. You will notice it the first time you shift to third.

You might lose a little in the way of useable powerband at redline shifting, but I've seen LS's gain time at the 1320 by switching transmissions. And you can add an LSD later too.

Edit: I'm a fool... 1/4 mile is 1320.. not 1430.

What is the 1430? Quarter mile? I thought that was 1320ft? A GSR tranny on a LS will twist about 4000 rpms at 70 mph. Way to high if you ask me. If you never drive on the highway the go for it!

Actually a GSR tranny won't hit 4k rpms till about 80mph... 70mph yields about 3.4k-3.6k rpms...

But back OT, yes a GSR tranny on a LS motor will help quite a bit... I used to get my *** drug by a Civic coupe w/ same motor (LS) and less mods, but he had a GSR tranny and I had the dreaded LS...

I would consider it an upgrade. Shorter gears = better acceleration.

If I was buying a tranny, it would be a GSR tranny.

Don't worry about doing higher RPM's on the freeway. I have an ITR tranny and I do 4000 at 60.

They are Honda's, they'll do fine.
