wondering about integra vti-r (GSR) performance.
I know these posts generally don't go down well... but i'm wondering whether something is wrong with my car.
dragged my friends b16a civic vti-r hatch (Si in america i think).
he has cold air intake with no airbox and an apexi cat back exhaust, rest of his car is mechanically stock.
my integra is totally stock.
now in this particular race, i had a better launch than him.
i got about 1/2 a car on takeoff.
through the rest of 1st gear he shoots past me and on his upchange he had me by 1/2 a car length.
through second gear, he's gone and put 1 1/2 car lengths on me, maybe 2.
he really ran away through second gear.
in 3rd... at about 140km/h i started to reel him back in.
this might be because the mugen bodykit he has would be terrible for wind resistance.
but yeah, i was just surprised at how badly he beat me.
i do need to do an oil change, and i think my sparkies are fairly fouled.
but 2 car lengths is a big distance
and opinions?
would it be likely that my car has some problems?

I would start with a compression test because it will give you a general idea of how things are sealing up inside your engine. Go to http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto.html and click on "compression test" for instructions. Get back with us on the results or if you have any questions.
I would think a mugen kit would be designed to avoid air resistance..but then again I'm only familliar with the mugen kit for JDM tegs.
I don't know the specs on the cars since they are not the same as the ones in the US, but a cold air intake adds about 8-10 HP over stock. The exhasut adds maybe 3-5 HP at the most. Your friend could easily have the same HP as you do, but his car is probably lighter and has shorter gear ratios and he might be a slightly better diver than you. It was possible for him to beat you by 1-2 car lengths, but I would also recommned doing a compression test and maybe a tune up.
