D16y8 manifold......is it worth it?????
I keep posing questions about this Y8 manifold swap, i am sorry. But im having second doubts about this swap. I definitly wont have the time to do it myself, so i need a shop to install it and that is 150.00. Is the difference very noticeable. I mean after spending 250.00 installed, is it worth that money? Any locals in MD want to do the swap for me ill pay 50.00, LOL.
yes imo it is worth it. The y7 manifold with its upper mounted tb blows. Just buy a y8 manifold and install it yourself. Its not all that hard to install.
Anyone else like to tell me what they think about the performance? I already have I/H/E so will i see better gains having those parts already?
I would install it, but again im full time college and full time work so i have zero time. No matter what im going to have to get a shop to do the install. It sucks b/c everyone wants 150.00 for the install, anyone know of any shops in MD that may be cheaper?

it is definately worth it, and down the line, you can portmatch it to a bigger TB. That down-draught y7 mani is HORRENDOUS for anything 'cept torque on a 40mpg 106hp ULEV motor...
I'm sure there is someone on this board from MD that would be able to aptly handle this swap for less than 150, tho it does require a little bit of fabrication to accomodate the throttle cable...might take over an hour and @ 75 bux an hour labor, 150 does not sound too outrageous. Also, if you are keeping the y7 throttle bodywith the IACV mounted on it, make sure you get an automatic y8 intake mani.

I like mine quite a bit. I say put it on..takes less than an afternoon and I can help you out with it.
I would do it for you for 50 bucks if you were here in NC.

for $150 freakin bucks, i would make time. do it yourself. take off work an hour early. even with the missed hour of work and you saving $150 for doing it yourself, you will still come out ahead. jeez, seriously, it would take me like 15 mins to put that on. $150 is outrageous.
