I know what you're saying about the difference in power between your stock ECU and the JDM P73, it's amazing huh... I personally think the P72 was the worst ECU ever made but then again that's just me (VTEC is too low and the mapping is shitty)... As for VTEC not crossing over, that's really strange... Yes the JDM P73 doesn't look for a VTM (VTEC oil press) signal but that's just one less reason why it wouldn't kick... If this were me I would probably tap a voltmeter off pin A8 (VTS output) on your ECU and see if there's 12VDC+ at ~5700rpm and up... Any CEL? The problem either lies in the wiring of the actual ECU is bad... With your P72 ECU VTEC works fine? Like I said, test the VTS output and see if you get anything... There's no reason why it shouldn't work just fine... Good Luck and let me know if you come up with anything... Peace

thanks for replying to this add. yes, the jdm ecu pull very hard but just that sound of the valves when the vtec quicks i dont hear it. as far as trying to fix it i'm not good in fixiong electronics. what i'm going to do is try it in another car, see if it works if not i'll give it to someone to fix it for me.i'll let you know. thanks again

ok, so you're using a 96 (OBD2a) ECU in your 99 GSR (OBD2b), those are two different types of OBD2 systems going on there.

Am I correct in assuming you're using an ecu jumper harness that allows you to adapt the 96 ecu to your 99 GSR ?

if not, did you rewire your car to use a "D" ecu plug ?

the 96,98, 99 it will fit any 94-01 integra, but 200-01 are different, so the jdm 96 ecy(p73) was just plug and play. my car gain enormous power it's just dont open the vtec. the person who sold it to me said the JDM ones dont have the pressure switch, which i dont what it means.so at this point just want to get a rid of it.

Katman, '96-98 Civics are OBDIIa as we know... '96-99 Teg are also all OBDIIa... Tegs went a year longer...

haha are u sure that its your AIB's that arnt opening?

ITR ecu doesnt look for AIB's

You need to leave them open or have them run off vac.

Umm irev210, what are you talking about? None of us every said anything about a GSR manifold and secondary butterflies... When you say AIB's, do you mean IAB's? Yea, the P73 ECU doesn't have an IAB output but say chafik11he was still running his stock GSR IN manifold, he could do as you said, remove the IAB solenoids and, run the diaphrams line directly to the vacuum port...

i know, I was just refering to how some people get the IAB's opening and the change in intake noise confused with VTEC kicking in.

All i was sugesting is that since his IAB's wernt opening he didnt hear the noise that they normally make, thus causing him to think vtec isnt ingauging.

air intake butterflys
intake air butterflys

my mistake

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by chafik11 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">the 96,98, 99 it will fit any 94-01 integra, but 200-01 are different, so the jdm 96 ecy(p73) was just plug and play. my car gain enormous power it's just dont open the vtec. the person who sold it to me said the JDM ones dont have the pressure switch, which i dont what it means.so at this point just want to get a rid of it.</TD></TR></TABLE>

well the 99 OBD2a info is questionable to me. I'll have to check that out for myself , but as far as the JDM P73 ecu goes, it having a disabled VTPS sensor (green plug on VT solenoid) is 100% true. But this should not have any direct effect on your vehicle -- VTEC should be working regardless.

You don't hear vtec crossover in your exhaust system around 5700rpm at all ?
