Default I have a few questions about my new best 1/4 mile time.

r/t .690
60' 2.246
330 6.165
1/8 9.357
mph 76.73
990 12.025
1/4 14.426
mph 96.61

My first question is wouldn't a stock type R with a 60' time of 2.246 pull a 14.426

1/4 mile run? I think it would. If so than what are my mods (IN SIG) doing for me?

I thought with this type of 60' and my mods I was sure to see low 14.XXX. what

am I doing wrong? Is it related to my 2.5" straight pipe exhaust going into a 2.25"

muffler. My other runs were 14.509, and 14.432. All runs were with no spare or

jack, 44psi rear tires, 30psi front tires and 6000ish rpm launch. I never took my

foot of the gas, and shifted fast in every gear at redline. I'm sorry for such a

general post, but right now I feel like my mods were a waste of money seeing how

a stock type r could pull these times. Thank you for your reply.

Try changing your launching style a little (Although 2.2 60' is good). If you can hit a 2.2 with 30 psi drop the presure down to 22-23 psi or so and keep launching. You should get a lot more taction that way.

What was the temperature? What is your elevation?

I ran a 14.2 with a 2.2304 60' but it was 40 degrees outside. Traction sucked *** but the power was there!

I had an AEM and TEIN HA's when I ran this. NO spare Tire or Jack and stock tires at 22 psi.

Here is the slip

ok, I don't know what to tell you !
here are my times '' BONE STOCK ''

R/T : .143 {.ooo} is perfect !
60 FT : 2.39
1/8 : 9.350
1/4 : 14.495 @ 97.381 mph

ps: the car had NO weight remouved and I weigh 205 lbs.

I guess, that your mods might have helped you......but not on the 1/4 mile. it must give you more breathing power at highway speeds ( 80-140 mph).

How do you get your ECU "reprogrammed"? And what exactly is changed?

Your trap speed looks low, stock R's running 14.4 clock in at 97-98mph.

So something is not......

how the hell are you lauching at 6K and getting traction. you're probably not so try lauching alittle lower and i bet you'll get a better time. Do you feel the wheels spinning? i hope you do

how do you have a cat and a straight pipe. shouldn't it be one or the other

yea i agree with xtrafastcrx,

6000 rpms is kinda high to launch, try somewthing lower, also try feathering the clutch if your not

I ran a 14.48@98.18mph time with just an AEM also. I usually launch at 3500-4000rpm with some slip in the clutch...usually get a 2.2-2.3 60' though.

someone clarify what street pressure is..

your quarter mile time is totally dependent upon your launch and your 60 foot. For every tenth you knock off on the 60 foot you knockoff 2 tenths on the top end. your car would run a 14.00 if you got a 1.8 60 foot. Its all about traction and launching. You can have a car capable of 13's but run a 15.0 if you don't get the launch right. Plus your on street tires. Its almost impossible to get any consistency on street tires. Run a slick or drag radial and you'll get a better time.

Default Re: I have a few questions about my new best 1/4 mile time. (FAST94GSR)

I used 30psi front tire pressure, and heated them up really good. When I launched

at 6000 rmp I do get a little wheel spin but I helped that out by feathering the

clutch. It does work it did get me some good 2.2XX 60' times. I must admit that I

need practice, because I understand that when the tires hook you want to be in

VTEC, and most of the time I dip down to 5000 rpm's which seems like an hour

wait untill VTEC kicks in again. Yet with my mods and 60' times I thought I would

see lower fourteens. Thanks to your responce the next time I run the 1/4 I'll try

reseting my ECU. That very well could be my whole problem. And maybe this time

I'll try to run with less than half of tank of gas. If after that I'm still not seeing

low fourteens I'll try lowering my psi, but with my already good 60' times I can't

see what good it would do other than lower my trap speeds.

I tried resetting the ecu when I was at the drags and got a consistent 3mph slower trap speed.

The 3mph slower traps with an ECU reset makes sense. When you drive around, your ecu normally adjusts your fuel map to the amount of oxygen available. If you reset your ECU, all it does is reset those optimizations. People always say that you should reset your ECU as soon as you get a mod. Personally, I think it's overrated - your ECU will automatically adjust with a little time.

You have it all wrong on tire pressure. You are pulling 2.2xx already on street tires...this is considered a "GOOD" launch...you won't be getting any better, maybe a high 2.1, if you do then props to you. But lowering your tire pressure will HURT your trap speed. Instead of lowering your tire pressure try increasing it until it hurts your launches...it should help your trapspeed and net a better E.T. if you can keep the launches just as good.

How do you guys get those great 1/4 mile times when your not even in VTEC. I mean if I would launch at 3500-3800 rpm it would take forever for Vtec to kick in, which has to slow you down in a 1/4 mile run.
