Lowering springs; do you need to replace shocks too?
hi guys, im a newbie, srry if i posted in the wrong place;
I want to lower my car, and i am wondering; besides the lowering sperings kit, do i also need to replace my shocks? or can i just replcae the springs myself?

No it isnt necessary to replace them but over time the added stress on the stock shock will cause them to blow, so I'd plan on it in the future.
Also look into some better coilovers

no, i havent bought any yet, however im planning to. So i have to think about new shocks? what type of shock am i looking at? from what company? $?
i have a 96 civic si coupe, and also a 95 eagle talon, i want to lower the civic. tanx

what is your budget
KYB AGX shocks are good
Koni Yellow shocks are better
and if you want adjustable height, get ground control coil over sleeves

Ground Controls are the way to go. If you still want a comfortable ride, I'd tend to look into some simple lowering springs, instead. It all depends on how much of a handling cognoscenti you are. Reason I say this is because a lot of you guys just want it lowered, and that's it. If that's the case, just keep it simple.

what kind of shocks do you get if you put in lowering springs ? I bought my car em2 with cut springs and blown shocks Im gonna put in some lowering springs in and replace the shocks but do I get stock shocks or is there some type of "lowered shocks''

Your question was also answered in this thread and in the FAQs, but yes you should get aftermarket shocks instead of stock shocks, as the stock ones will wear out fast and blow due to the increased stress. I would contact the spring manufacturer and ask them what shocks would match up nicely with the spring rate and lowering height of the particular springs you get.
