How much weight will you save with a CF hood?
Is the weight saving of these CF hood worth $500+?? which brand is the lightest with good quality? I don't mind putting hood pins on...
On a 94+ Integra the weight-savings from a FiberImages CF hood is about 15-16lbs. according to a bathroom scale. Whether or not thats worth the money it costs is a matter of opinion. The stock hoods just really aren't very heavy to begin with, although the CF one does represent about a 50% savings over stock.
Stock hoods are 30 LBS...you can find some carbon fiber hoods that around around 10 LBS...or a fiberglass hood at around 9 LBS.
Is it worth the money...that up to you to decide.

most hood that are being sold now are not that great anyways, they have more fiberglass than carbon fiber, which makes them heavy, so the figures vary greatly...fiber images supposedly hand makes all their hoods with carbon fiber, and hand laid glass, which makes them lighter, but you pay a little more...cheaper hoods run about 3, fiber images around 4-5, the weight savings between the two isnt that great...maybe 3lbs at the most...its up to you...but over stock, it saves at the least 12lbs...

how much does a fiberglass hood weigh and cost...are they high quality and easily paintable by a body shop...heard when painted they look wavy...
Is the weight savings worth it for the cost? Probably not.
Are CF hoods sweet as hell? Yes.
Is the reason I'm getting one mostly for aesthetics (but with an added bonus of a few pounds weight savings)? Yep.
