Its just a cover on the seat that is red...not all canadian Type R's have them though. That is what I was told when I called a dealership in Canada trying to buy a pair. I think he told me they were like $350 for the back part of the seat and $200 for the bottom of the seat.

You're listening to a 'guy at the dealership' and believing it? Next thing you're gonna tell me is that you read it on the internet so it must be true!!! LOL...sorry, I'm just playin'. In Canada (capital 'C' guys), the 2001 year model ITR comes only one way...CW with the red seats...oh yeah, and FAST!!! I'm still just getting 'familiar' with mine ( just spun 7500km's).

As for trading my CDM red seats for the USDM black ones....YA RIGHT!!!!! Don't you guys know that the black seats are heavier than the red ones!!!!! (j.j. although I'm sure some one has actually weighed them!!!) Throw in a pair of gunmetal rims and I'll think about it!!!! LOL!

So it is the whole seat? The guy worked in the parts department so I figured he might have half of a clue. Guess not.

It's not the WHOLE seat that's red. For example the foam inside is white, and the metal parts are black, so I guess your parts guy was sorta right...

my friend has a canadian type r.. red interior. i looked at it.. the shell of the seat is still black (on the bottom).. the red part is suede and mesh just like the usdm ITR seats... BUT, they look kinda loose as if they were seat covers.. not sure though, but they sure didnt look as tite (literally) as the usdm ITR black suede/mesh.

on a side note, hey jared i'll see you at next year's show in portland.

IMO, keep the black ones. The Red ones are UGLY. It's the shade of red they use which doesn't look good at all.

Oh Ouch.. that hurt you know... My red seats are not ugly! Or if they are it's only because I'm sitting in them heh heh...

What's this about the material being loose.. mine are not loose.. very tight...
bounce a quarter tight.. if anybody's is loose take em apart and put new hog rings (or whatever holds them) on.

Have you guy's who don't like the red seats felt the heat difference in the cars on a hot day? There is a noticable difference. And the red seats contrast very nicely with the black and white around the car.. looks very sharp up close and personal.

'Sides.. I don't say bad things about some of the butchering you guys do on your cars... so be nice

I own a CW 01-01340 and I personally think that MY Red seats are damn ugly!!
I was going to get a used 99 just because of the red seats.... However, since it's factory OEM, I am not going to change them to black. Dont' want to lower the value of the car when I sell it in the future.

anyone have a picture of the Red OEM seats? I've never seen em and would like to form my own opinion of them...I hate the color red, so I don't think I'm going to like em, but hey, I'd just like to see em...thanks

awww god, that is awful looking (to each his own)

I have not seen this posted, but I do appreciate you taking the time to repost it...thanks

BTW, the center portion of the seat doesn't look like the "tweed" look that the US black seats have...it sort of looks like chenille or cashmere...is that what it is or could it be the alacantara in the center too? thanks again Super*

FYI: That is a horrible picture of a nice seat. The real color is much lighter. And from personal experience I can say that the fabric is EXACTLY the same as the US seats, just red.

like I said, I'm not a big fan of red to begin with, so I figured I wasn't going to like it anyway...

Besides the color of course, the red and the black seats are exactly the same.

i think they're pretty nice, a good alternative if you want red jdm's. red back seats are a bit much though, but i wouldn't mind owning a pair of red fronts to keep on the side-i think they would be pretty rare in a few years.
